20 minute Full Body Standing Strength Workout with Dumbbells | Seniors, Beginners

This 20 minute full body strength workout will build muscle in your arms, legs, back, and core. We use dumbbells with these standing exercises, but you can use anything with weight such as water bottles or cans. The goal is to use weight that is challenging for you.

The 7 exercises are done in 30-second intervals. Aim to do 8 to 12 repetitions during each interval. We do two rounds of the exercises.

✳️ Mini traditional squats
✳️ Rows
✳️ Mini sumo squats
✳️ Rows with a tricep kickback
✳️ Reverse lunges
✳️ Bicep curls
✳️ Wood Chops

This workout can be done at least twice a week on its own or with another yes2next workout.

Thank you for this! I'm a breast cancer survivor and am currently in chemical menopause for the next 5-10 years and my body feels older than I am because of it. I've been looking for workouts I can do to loosen up and build muscles back up and there aren't many. I used to be able to do more and it's so hard finding workouts that I can do to build my body back up (many are geared toward young, already-in-shape people without joint issues). This was one I could do and gives me so much hope that I can workout and do strength training again.

I started with your 10 minute walking workout on 3/7/23. It is now 4/12/23. I do your 20 minute walk and 20 minute strength with dumbells 4 times a week. Thank-you for being patient! My BP is now NORMAL and my heart rate has dropped 20 beats per minute. I was "scared" because of my heart rate back in March. Today, my heart rate was 72 beats per minute, down from an average of 95. New subscriber here and I joined for three reasons. #1 Your precious cat #2 Your lovely Mom #3 Your encouraging tone and words I am getting over a back injury (L 5) and also have bad knees at 62. I love these two ladies and the incremental movement toward small goals, then larger. Even though I belong to a very nice athletic club, I still love to work out with Iko and April. These two gals have helped me come out of a long standing depression, because they gave me goals I could approach, then master, then move on. It's as if I am having two friends over and no matter how messy my house might look, I can just tune into one of these videos, do some exercises, then find my vim and verve to get on with my housework. Iko and April are the best deal going. Very thankful and grateful to have found them.

I would love to see more of these full-body strength workouts using dumbbells. 20 minutes seems to be an ideal time for me, too. I have been working out for just over 4 years, but am always on the lookout for fun and interesting videos like yours. I try to avoid getting in a rut with my routines, and your approach to the workout is heartening to me.
