I’m in week 2 of drastically changing my diet. Sugar addiction is real. This has been a rough week. I have noticed an immediate improvement in the swelling in my hands and the bloat in my gut after cutting out sugar and grains.

I was a sugarholic and fast food junkie, as a kid, and even into my late thirties when my health really started to go downhill fast.

As of recently, I was able to eliminate sugar from my coffee by replacing it with almond milk. Over time, my tastes buds have changed and I no longer crave the sugar or have to have it in my coffee, in order for it to taste right.

I overcame my sugar cravings after feeling bloated the next morning with dietary changes. This was followed through with intermittent fasting. The next thing that happened is my mind and body telling "I don't want it".

We use Olive oil, and Avocado oil only. And at times bacon grease to make basted eggs.We have cut out pastries, and lots of sugary products. I really like MONK fruit sugar, and stevia. I don't crave sweets, but bread has been a small issue, because I love garden tomato sandwiches. I make my mom's recipe for cabbage rolls, which we love, and bread is not required. I find other meals where bread is not a part, such as breakfast. I miss toast. BUT, I saute kale, and add a sprinkle of brewers yeast, and when it is sauteed to my liking, I add a scrambled egg and make a small omelet, to which I add some grated swiss cheese, then flip up the side, and brown the omelet on both sides. It has a chewy texture, and I don't feel the need for toast. Sometimes, I add chopped broccoli, and a sprinkle of parmesan. I enjoy these healthy, and satisfying omelets with NO bread. Sometimes we just have to find a good replacement for the inflammatory items in our diets. I wish there were a longer list of the most inflammatory foods. Thanks, Dr. Nick!

I've been vegan and vegetarian for 4 years. I can attest to this. My health has gotten better when I got rid of these foods. Unfortunately, I live in the Philippines. And choosing healthier alternatives can quickly starve our pockets. It's pretty expensive for us. And to be quite frankly, it's an unsustainable lifestyle.

Eating two table spoons of canned pumpkin twice a day helps with my sugar cravings.

My addiction to sugar was centered around drinking and eating what I thought was ‘bargain food and drink”.
I ate too much fast food and drank soda. Making dinner at home using lots of organic/ grass fed meats and vegetables and switching to unsweetened black tea. (I eventually kicked caffeine altogether) Healthy things seemed more expensive, but eventually, I figured out, we’re more satiating.

When I quit sugar, the first two days were the hardest. I struggled to not go to the store and buy candy. After two full days, it got a lot easier and was mostly breaking the habit and not the crazy jonesing from then on.

I kicked sugar by starting a keto lifestyle 3 years ago. I lost 93 lbs and it changed my life and I rid myself of insomnia, migrains and daily pain in my lower back facet joint after a bad car accident. Thanks for sharing

Thanks for the info. Some humans do find that spelt and kamut are easier than wheat, although they are from the
same family. Some like the einkhorn type of wheat. I am a whole food vegan and like organic brown rice or quinoa,
but also wild rice and buckwheat which are not grains. It is sad that after 8 years of medical training, allopathic
doctors know almost nothing about nutrition or true health. I have more respect for chiropractors, registered dieticians,
and clinical nutritionists. cheers to you.
