I'm in engineering. Found out last winter that the company was offering new hires about $10K more than me (I have almost a decade of experience). I asked for and got a $10K raise, but decided to put out an application in parallel to another company I really wanted to work for just as a long shot. I ended up getting that position and an additional 45% raise on top of the $10K I got at my current job. I couldn't be more thrilled.

When you have to start taking anti-anxiety medication in order to make it through the workday then that's a big red flag it's time to leave. Not worth your health.

I like how you released this on a Sunday. So people can feel hopeful and make change, instead of dreading tomorrow. Nice work.

#11 – micromanagement. Everything you do needs to be scrutinized and approved by managers above you.

The biggest issue right now with salaries is that nobody is putting effort into retaining talent. Just attracting new talent.

I have hated all of my jobs. For the amount of money, I get paid. I shouldn't have to be worrying about my jobs on weekends or at night.

Yeah… I remember the weekend dreading.. it would hit by Saturday late morning. A godawful sickening and oppressive dread sensation would overwhelm…the idea of returning to work on Monday. It was really a very unpleasant thing to deal with.

I work in the legal industry as a Legal Assistant/Paralegal. My salary is very low at my current firm for the kind of work that I do and there are a myriad of other issues (increased turnover, lack of mobility, etc.). So, I started looking for a new job within the last month or so. I had some interviews and received an offer that increases my salary by over 50%. I accepted the offer, cleared the background check and will be starting in a couple of weeks.

The most important sign is when you notice your paycheck is less than your rent.

I forwarded this video to my wife and she said "STOP SENDING ME THESE VIDEOS, I am too overworked and underpaid in an office I dread going to, stuck in this toxic workplace all my friends left, working for a nearly bankrupt company that is ruining my health."

Quit a company 3 years ago. I lasted a year and a half there. It was my shortest stint anywhere. I'm not ashamed. Working at that company made me feel like I was being driven crazy, had toxic bosses and coworkers, and started to have a slew of health issues. I had a heart attack while at work, at 35 years old and had to take a mandatory 90 days off due to it. Of course they tried shirking their responsibility in paying me, and it's also when I found out how "great" the company's insurance wasn't. Upon being cleared to go back to work, I quit within the first 6hrs of my shift. I decided to take 6 months off before landing where I am today. I make way more money, have been able to stabilize the work life balance, I don't find myself sleeping away my nights off like the previous place, have lost over 80lbs, have gotten back into shape, and have a much healthier lifestyle as a result.

I sometimes see the people I used to work with. They look absolutely miserable and in poor health. They've been brainwashed into thinking there is no other place like that awful company. If they quit, nobody is going to want to hire them. That is one of the many things the higher-ups put into the minds of the weak willed who work there. It's what abusive partners do. It's so messed up. I've tried telling them that company isn't the only show out there but they don't want to listen. You can't help those who don't want it.

This guy is speaking the truth on toxic coworkers to bosses. I experienced it firsthand, derailing my career and income.

3 months in with my current job, I observed how my supervisor was not proactive, apathetic, doesn't respond to emails and chats and doesn't assist me whenever I ask for assistance. It showed me that this will be a problem in the long run so I decided to resign.

I am not going to endure BS anymore.

4:16 as soon as you hear your company was bought up by another one, or is about to merge with another company, update your resume and start your job search. Do it no matter what the muckety-mucks at your current job say.

Oh gosh. Nail on head. 90% of these applied to me. Especially the burned out quiet quitter. My former role and business is so nuanced I won’t go into specifics. I’m not being flippant, though. I matriculated easily for 27 years without resumes or interviews and was simply scared and lost. The pandemic forced a change. Still super scary but lucky and flattered a long prior client fought for my new job and that it provides more stability and safety. Fingers crossed. And validating to realize I’ve made an impression over these trying years. Thank you, Brian!

I just landed a new role with around 30% increase and fully remote! It's definitely possible.

I was getting bombarded with “emergencies” every time I went on vacation. Like double. AND they were toxic 😩

I had stayed with an abusive boss for 21 years. He wasn't always abusive but he changed over the past two years. I put up with his screaming but then it accelerated into belittling me and throwing papers. Once that happened, I walked out. I managed a small law firm and it was rough. I stayed longer than I should've because the salary was good and I knew my job well. My ex boss said "you do nothing all day." He was so upset that I walked out. He was calling incessantly and pounding me with texts. I told him that I was not coming back and I meant it! He even had his wife pleading with me not to quit. He embarrassed me in front of an office full of attorneys with that tantrum. The inappropriate, childish behavior was unbearable. So, I gave it right back to and left the following note on his door...

You reap what you sow. Next time don't abuse your staff by screaming, belittling and throwing things.

I quit!

Yours truly.

Oh, and since I do nothing all day, what does he need me for anyway? If his law firm is going down the drain let him call Roto Rooter because I'm gone 😂
