I had a similar arc. My back pain an knee pain also got fixed with muscle strengthening. Glad you are feeling it work.

Great video and impressive lifts! I recently did deadlifts for the first time in years and loved it. It makes the body feel strong and sturdy.

I also have had chronic back problems. For the last several years I have been pain-free after working with a good chiropractor to correct some alignment issues that kept running me through cycles of injury. After that was corrected, I could make real progress with strength training. I am 64 years old. Thanks for sharing your story. Does this mean you are working your way up from APS to full frame, or maybe medium format?

I’ve been weight training for 23 years and as a 59 year old woman, it’s been the best thing I’ve done for my health.

Weight training is healthy and I am glad you are doing it to try and make yourself strong. But please take it from a guy that has trained for over 20 years alone and with competitive bodybuilders-you WILL at some point, hurt your lower back training doing something (or a rotator cuff). Deadlifting especially has a higher rate of injury than the other lifts you are doing. Compound movements are helping you because, with proper form, they are forcing you to engage and strengthen your core. However, lower back pain can also come from issues below the hips (I.e. imbalance or weakness in leg muscles that attach to the hips and spine). There are a myriad of other ways you can strengthen that core while developing strong, beautiful muscles and minimizing the risk of injury. Make sure you explore those as well. If you are not planning to compete in strength competitions or become the world’s strongest man, please explore all those exercises as well since it don’t matter how much you lift because everyone wants to lift more more more! I love you!

starting strength is a good strength training program for beginner but please don't follow Rippetoe advice for diet. Love Mark as a coach but he is not a nutrionist and he is too stubborn to admit that. Not sure if your coach is following SS diet to a tee but I would recommend to get your diet advice elsewhere.
