- The photo of Ruth on the electric chair was the first photograph ever captured of someone being executed with this device.

- After being married for 10 years, Ruth began an affair with Henry Gray, a married corset salesman. Though gray was initially reluctant, the two began plotting to murder Albert. Eventually, two years after beginning their affair, Ruth and Gray carried out the 8th and final murder-attempt on Albert’s life.

- On the night of the murder, the pair garroted Albert with a picture wire, stuffed his nose with chloroform-soaked rags and beat him with a sash weight. Though they tried to frame the scene as if it were a burglary, Detectives quickly became skeptical. Not only was there very little evidence of a break-in, but they also found the property that Ruth reported as stolen to still be in the house. In the end, Ruth and Gray turned on each other in trial, testifying that the other was responsible for the murder; Both were sentenced to death and executed in the same place, just 10 minutes apart.

Fun fact: Ruth Snyder might’ve been able to get away with murder had she not slipped up. Gray (her lover) and her late husband’s dead fiancée had the same initials: JG. And Snyder kept one of his late fiancee’s handkerchiefs (embroidered with her initials) in his pocket as a way to remember her.

During the murder, the handkerchief slipped out of Snyder’s pocket. Detectives found it and showed it to Ruth in an attempt to get answers. Ruth thought that the handkerchief belonged to her lover and asked what Grey knew. That was enough for detectives to get curious.
