- Due to the financial situation Long grew up in, he had to share a bed with his mother into his teenage years. Thus, when his single mother would bring home men after work, she would kick Bobby out of bed, and onto the couch. This, paired with his mother’s line of work and her tendency to regularly wear revealing clothes deeply infuriated Bobby. Over time, Bobby’s resentment for his mother grew, and eventually evolved to what would be a generalized hatred to women as a whole.

- When Long’s violence escalated to murder, he was killing a new victim every two weeks on average. His modus operandi involved picking up women (often sex workers) in his car, sexually assaulting them, then strangling them to death. During his previous spree of over 50 non-lethal sexual assaults, Long would respond to classified ads placed by women selling household items. He targeted women who were home alone, using the guise of being a potential buyer to gain access to their homes. Once inside, if the women were alone, he would assault them.

- Lisa McVey was instrumental in Long’s capture. Initially, Long abducted her while she was riding her bicycle home from work by dragging her into his car at gunpoint. However, during her captivity, McVey fabricated a story about being the sole caregiver of a sick parent, and offered to be his “secret girlfriend” to gain Long’s trust. With this trust, she convinced Long to let her go, and despite being blindfolded, McVey was able to provide the police with sufficient information to capture Long.

I cant help but feel bad for him mainly cause 1. If his horrible mother didnt let the men she brought around beat and abuse him (especially since he grew boobs which made it worse for him in many ways, like making those men wanna prey on him even more etc) he wouldve grown up a bit better

And 2. She and her men werent the only problem to his life and mental health and if anyone in his life wouldve gotten him both mental and medical help at a young age instead of letting his mind deteriorate he wouldnt have became what he became and many lives wouldve been saved/fixed

I also understand that even through all of that he was still sane enough to kno right and wrong and that he made those choices etc but mental health issues are very very strong so i put the blame both on him but mainly those who were around him especially his mother she shouldve been held responsible for his actions as well smh

rip to all those poor innocent lives that were both ruined and lost and i hope everyone who are going through something bad doesnt just bottle it up and hold it in until it explodes in the form of a school shooter or a serial killer and decide to get actual legit help! Even something as simple as a therapist for a day can save lives!
