What is codependency and what are its symptoms (How do I stop being codependent?)

I have Codependent no more, but I haven't started it yet. I never understood the word Codependent because to me, it sounds like someone who is dependent on another person, my husband is one who could never be single he just doesn't like to be alone and would jump from relationship to relationship. If I could leave my phone at home and go have a weekend vacation alone I absolutely would.
I think a lot of people get put off by the word Codependent, if it was called something else maybe people wouldn't be so offended by it. Thank you for the videos Dr. KJ, I'm looking forward to the next series.
