Spinal decompression for herniated disc is a very common treatment approach. Disc herniations can cause low back pain or sciatica by pushing on a nerve root. If the disc is pushing on the nerve root this can cause burning or electric shooting pain down the leg. A common treatment for this is spinal decompression to take pressure off the nerve and allow the disc to rehydrate.

Many people will try inversion tables, or expensive treatment plans for the latest spinal decompression machines like the DRX9000 but still end up in the sane place! This is because they usually provide temporary relief which requires you to keep coming back! You need to learn exercises you can do on your own to put yourself in charge!

Here are 3 exercises you can do at-home to decompression your discs and relief sciatica from disc herniation!

I did the DRX Decompression machine and released from the machine August 2023 ..…… 7 months later I’m still good, along with core training exercises and hanging from pull up bar.

Dear Dr. Elliott, thanks for your dedication with the free videos for the public. Regarding the video "3 Spinal Decompression Exercises for Disc Herniation and Sciatica!", I would like to suggest using a physio ball instead of the bar, or the kitchen counter or the table. By doing so, we save activating unnecessary muscles (in the hands), and we let the body, except the legs, resting on the ball as much time as desired, possibly while making movements with the lower part of the body. I find the physio ball as good for the upper back, while leaning on the palms of the hands instead of the legs, which are then in the air. Best wishes, Yigal

Hey Doc what do you feel about Intradiscal injections? You are right, a lot of people have degenerative disc that have collapsed and causing inflammation so decompression is a temporary method.
