What you actually need for a bigger back, in 7 simple steps:

1. Eat accordingly: if you are overweight, maintain but you can also go in a caloric deficit, if you are skinny eat in a surplus.

2. You don't need more than these 3 exercise:
** Deadlift with heavy weights, low reps (1-6), at least 4-5 sets.
** Pull ups with machine assistance or with extra weight, if needed, so you can at least do 4-5 sets of low reps (1-6).
** Barbell row 90º (this means the bar has to go vertical to the floor, so your back has to be pararell to the floor, ). 3 sets of 8-15 reps.
These 3 exercises are the base of strength and so the ability to be able to hypertrophy more, you literally dont need other than those 3. Maybe try some one sided variants, which actually does have benefits.

3. Work with progressive overload: this means that you put more weight or more sets, or both each week.

4. Give your muscle some rest: the muscle growths when it rests, so if you are too sore, go easier, let your body recover. Also try adding some "discharge" week within your training (recommend 3-4 hard training week and 1 with discharge) where you go easier, with low weights and easier rep. You can also use these weeks to perfect your technique.

5. Don't go to the failure in the first sets, specially in big lifts, better keep 1-2 reps in the tank, maybe the last one go for that dropset, not recommendable for lifts like deadlift.

6. USE THE MAX RANGE OF MOTION YOU CAN. Bigger ROM = More hypertrophy, more strength gain.

7. Last but not least, DO YOUR BEST. Stick to your plan and keep working harder and harder into your goal.

Also mind your genetics, not everyone is going to grow a big ass back, but you surely can improve it. Also if you have wider shoulders and smaller waist it would play in your favour, use that too.

Quick tip, when doing cable rows bring it to your belly button not your chest

This is a solid workout, although if you’re a novice I’d def recommend building your back around the deadlift, easiest way to add muscle and strength to your frame as a beginner
