Why would you talk gear ratio only?!!!! The whole point of gear inches is that takes into account the circumference of the tire tread. The same chainring cog combo gives very different speed or power results on different size tires. 18 gear inches is lowest practical for a loaded touring bike. 110 gear inches could be potentially fast on a super light TT for an athlete strong enough to spin it.
This 6th grade explanation of gear ratios is of no use in cycling and frankly seems beneath GCN.
