*About this video*
Ben Tanner PA-C explains that although fasting is beneficial for the vast majority of people, more is not always better. So how much intermittent fasting should you do for weight loss, or other purposes? That depends on various circumstances, including how much extra body fat you have, and your other goals. For example, you might be looking for benefits like autophagy or resetting the immune system (which can come from extended water fasting). Ben shares various real life examples to illustrate how for some people, a lot of fasting make sense. For other people, less fasting would be better. This includes the longest fast on record, The Fasting Method (Dr. Fung & Megan Ramos), Ben's own story, and more.

I'm slim and healthy but I still fast in a way by doing the 16 / 8 rule, I'm eating early in the day and so not eating after around 2 or 3 pm and Its been very beneficial.

I try to 16/8 and this is enough for me although once I stabilise my diet I want to do one extended fast. Should I start with 24 hours, then 2 days, then 3 days. I don’t think I’d go longer than that as I only weigh 8 stone. I’m 5ft 5.
