58 hours into my fast. Sick and tired of the cravings and the, if I'm really honest, over 50 pounds extra weight. I want to take back control of my appetite and this is the best way to break the physical and psychological barrier. Lost 5 pounds so far! Good luck to all of us fasters!

I maintained therapeutic ketosis in conjunction with chemotherapy and immunotherapy but also fasted 3 days before and 2 days after 18 infusions. I RESOLVED stage 3 endometrial cancer. Thank you Prof Thomas Seyfried for your protocol which not only starved the cancer of glucose but with fasted exercise hindered glutamine from feeding the cancer also.😊

You changed my life, Dr. Fung. Seriously. I'm 63 and was morbidly obese for 40 years. I "happened across" your videos over 2 1/2 years ago when my daughter in law scared me to death saying they were fasting as a part of becoming more healthy. I really connected with your message and saw where I was headed. No doubt I would be type 2 diabetic before long. That scared me me further and I jumped aboard and unlike the decades of yo yo dieting I had experienced, I've changed my way of eating and I'm never turning back. I'm down 105 pounds and am only 30 pounds from a very healthy weight. I say all that to say this...thank you! Seriously, I can't express it sufficiently. Thank you.

I do a 24 hour fast every Monday and a 48 or 72 hour fast once a month. I didn’t need to lose weight, but I’m very active and it’s really knocked down inflammation in my body.

That's probably the best tip I've heard in a long time- "Fit the fasting into your lifestyle, don't fit the lifestyle into your fasting."

I am on day 5 of a water and tea fast 😀. I was going to just do 3 days, but am feeling pretty good so kept going and now aiming for 7 days. I've been adding sea salt, trace minerals and electrolyte powder to some of the water in the morning. Then just plain water or tea for the rest of the day. I have lost about 11 lbs, which I am very excited about 😁 So far, my longest fast and counting!

Most of my life I never ate breakfast. Then I retired, and with new found time on my hands I started eating breakfast. Big mistake, I gained 30lbs in one year! About a month ago I stopped eating after dinner, and began skipping breakfast again, so basically I eat in a 6 hour window, lunch at noon, and dinner over by 6pm. I've lost over 20lbs already.

Fasting takes practice. Fasting longer takes a leap of faith. I recently did a 3-day fast and broke a psychological barrier. Now, 36-48 hour fasts are normal and not a challenge. Try a 3-day. And keep trying until you get through it. 👍🥳

Fasting becomes easier after you move through the initial hunger. Usually a window of 2 to 3 hours. During this time I chew gum, drink water, broth or tea, chew ice chips and keep busy. Do my nails, read, . Once your past that hunger it definitely gets easier.

I want to add my experience with extended fasting in terms of mental health. I do TRE, and don't fast more than 24 hours because I have found that when I do extended fasting, I often slip into hypomania, which is something that doesn't seem to happen outside of extended fasting. I feel great with 24 hours or less, but beyond that I start to get hypomanic. So, keep your mental health in mind as well as your physical health! Has anyone else had that experience as well?

EDIT: I did some research and did find that this can be a common occurrence for people who have mental health issues such as bipolar disorder. I still think fasting is a great resource, but always keep your mental health in mind AND do what works for you! It's not a competition. Just because you see someone can fast for 7 days straight doesn't mean it works for you.

What I'm learning is that if I want my body to run the most efficiently, I must treat my body as a business. If I run my business with 3 shifts then I'll have to pay for overtime and double time, increased workers comp claims, sick days, more electricity and gas to keep the building running, etc. All costs increase. However if I can get workers to work a 6 hour day, then they'll have increased energy while I have decreased costs and overhead. Same with eating. The body will run more efficiently if it doesnt have to spend all it's time digesting food. Itll be more happy and productive to do other things like repair cells and burn fat.

Last week I completed 120 hour fast and lost 10 pounds. I ate one meal on Saturday and Sunday. My fasting began at 4pm Sunday for another 120 hours. On my weight journey. Trying to get under 200 pounds by May 2021; 23 pounds away. Wish me luck.

Recently I was told by my doctor that I needed to go on medication for my type 2 diabetes and high cholesterol. Both were very bad, so I decided to change my diet and lifestyle. I do not like taking pills, so I told her I would try and control them by dieting and exercising. I told her to give me one month, and if it hadn't worked I would go on the pills. Three weeks later, I went back to see her; she took my blood and cholesterol test and told me to come back ‪in one week‬. When I went back for the results, I was shocked - the doctor looked at me and said, "Mr K..., I don’t know what you are doing, but whatever it is, continue to do it - we can't see any signs that you’re diabetic and your cholesterol is normal! We don’t need to put you on any medication." To my surprise, she didn’t even ask me what I was doing...
