In this video, we’re going to talk about what happens on the inside of your body when you’re fasting. 

There are a lot of beneficial effects of fasting on the body. Over a long period of time, the human body has developed and adapted to starvation. However, our bodies have not adapted to frequent eating. 

What happens when we fast?

Effects of fasting after 12 hours—There is a spike in growth hormone.

Growth hormone is involved with:
• Anti-aging 
• Fat burning 
• Healing joints
• Protein synthesis 

Effects of fasting after 18 hours—You develop autophagy.

Autophagy is involved with:
• Recycling old and damaged proteins as well as microbes

You forgot to mention that at about 20 to 24 hours your eyes start to obsessively watch YouTube videos about fasting with another spike of this phenomenon at about 36 to 48 hours.

Been saying this for a long time. There was no way people ate the 3 meals a day. Those at the top know this but also know eating that much causes lethargy and health issues that they can profit from. I started eating once a day about 7 years ago and an amazing thing happened. My energy went up and so did my muscle. I might be weird, but it worked amazingly.

Here’s my story. I was 310 lbs. at one point in June 2023, and not at all comfortable at this stage. My BMI was 49, class 3 obesity. I decided to go on Ozempic and I lost 40 lbs. in 2 months. I continued taking Ozempic but plateaued at 270 lbs and could never get lower, even with 2 mg. shots per week. As a matter of fact, I was gaining again and climbed to 290 lbs. I felt nauseated every day and felt that Ozempic was no longer helping me so I stopped taking it in early May of this year.

At this point, I felt I really had to do something or literally bust at the seams again. I did research on diets and came across this video. I decided to give prolonged fasting a try and managed to reach 117 hrs. without a single bit of food. I took Centrum 50+ vitamins every day with an added 1000 UI of Vitamin D3 along with 1 electrolyte drink with an added pinch of salt and in my water glasses for the day (2 liters). I go for a walk around the block every day and this seems to help with digestion, not to mention all the other benefits exercise gives.

I then moved to an 18-6 intermittent fasting period with little food for the first two days. From this point on I ate normal portions of healthy Keto diet food and have since upped my fasting period to 20-4 and now 22-2 without any serious urges to eat in between. I keep my carbs and sugar levels lower than 30 g each a day and I am in constant state of ketosis ranging between 8 and 16 mmol/L. I have ketosis test strips that I use on a daily basis to see where I stand. I haven’t felt any issues whatsoever being at this constant level of ketosis. Intermittent fasting has reduced my arthritic pain in my knees and hips and my pants are starting to fall off. :)

Since I started on May 10, 2024, at 6:00 PM, I’ve lost 20 lbs. (9.07 kg.), I’m down to 270 lbs. (122.5 kg.). I will continue doing this until I reach 200lbs (90.7 kg.). which seems to be my ideal weight. I’m 61 years of age and I'm 5’ “7” (170 CM) with a large bone structure and getting below 200 lbs. just wouldn’t sit well with me. Losing 90 lbs. (40.8 kg.) is my goal, no more.

Well, we are now June 10, one month in on my new endeavor. I am now on OMAD and I eat between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM with 23 hours of fasting. My intake is about 1500-1800 calories a day on a Keto diet. Weighed myself this morning with 9 hrs. left to go before I eat and I'm in at 263.2 lbs. (119.36 kg.). That's 26.8 lbs. (12.16 kg.) in 31 days, not bad at all! I will update in another month. :)

After a 5 day fast, I noticed all of my arthritis pain went away for a few days afterward. It was great. Like a reset button for my joints.

I was gaining weight, doing too much cardio and fatigued. I stopped all exercise and went zero sugar and fasted and lost so much inflammation and weight, even without exercise. He is telling the truth.

I was in and out the the hospital for 3 weeks being with my girlfriend who suffered a nasty motorbike wreck. During that time I had a terrible diet, poor sleep, anxiety. Once she finally made it back on her feet I started back into my routine of working out and also went straight into a 72 hour fast. At first I didn't believe people online saying they did a week or more but heading into my 72nd hour I truly felt like I could have done beyond. My health both mentally and physically improved dramatically and I will continue to do intermittent fasting from now on. Respect to all who do this.

I am 69 years old and I have been on the 18 hour IF diet for over a year. I started the 72 hour fast about 5 years ago and continue to do that every 6 months. Many of my friends ask what is my secret. I have never felt better. My fasting was not to lose weight, I just wanted to be healthy.

I am 49yo. Fasting every Wednesday for 20-24 hours (drinking only water) for more than 3 years now. Added Friday in the last 4 weeks, so 2 days a week now. I had never felt better in my entire life. I lost 7 kg (I am 170cm/63kg), feel very energetic, sharp minded, more disciplined and organized. Combined with daily meditations I am doing for a year now and tracking my sleep thru the app on my apple watch for 2 years, my life changed forever. People get shocked when I tell them my age, nobody gives me more that 35. I love my life and enjoy every minute of it!
