Just wanted to clarify, when I say 18 hours I am not talking about when you start to get into autophagy (that would be 16 hours). 18 hours when things really start kicking in and showing the benefits.

I have Lyme disease so I started Keto/IF for my health more than anything. I started out at 14/10 and then 16/8 and I am now at minimum 20/4 sometimes I go 24 hours and only eat one meal a day. I've lost 20 lbs in one month. It's helping my symptoms tremendously, less pain and stiffness in my knees, and my skin issues are clearing up. I'm hoping for even more results within the next month and months to come. There is no other way of eating for me, this is just too easy. After the first 3-5 days most people adjust to IF just fine and are not hungry as much. I love it!

I don’t see myself doing 3 meals a day ever, I was in the dark for so long.
I’m doing OMAD and love it. I started gradually decreasing my eating window
to get to this point. Thanks Dr. Berg

Thank you Dr i used to do 12-14 hours at first but I saw that it didn’t help much. Once I started pushing 16 hours I saw results but for best result appeared once I pushed 20 hours. I’ll try 18 hours as you suggested it might be the sweet spot! I am still not able to do this erryday only on weekends and Fridays. Work stress makes me so hungry 😋 but I’m getting better.

The key is to what you eat when you do eat and how active you are. The lower the carbs and the more active you are the quicker you will get back into ketosis again,

I find its best to alternate meaning different fasting protocols on different days depending how you feel

So where are we on this, coffee breaks the fast if it's out side the eating window-no matter what?

To achieve all benefits of fasting, coffee can't be consumed unless with the meal(s)? That means most have to eat their meals in the morning; to have coffee.
You can't drink 2 cups of coffee at eight PM/20:00. So that means if you are OMAD, or just 2MAD, you have to have your coffee with and only with your first/only meal. Coffee stays in your system 12h, we all know if drinking coffee too late in the day can lead to insomnia.

Which benefits are we loosing by drinking coffee outside the eating window?
It might mean OMAD is a waste of effort, if one drinks coffee in the morning and eats, once, in the evening.

I learned from Dr.Pelz that everyone is different. If you want to know if your coffee is pulling you out of a fast. Use a Mojo or other glucose reader to determine if your coffee changed your base reading. If the glucose goes up then you know that your coffee kicked you out of a fast. Side note: a base reading is taken in the fasted state one hour after waking. The 2nd reading to determine if a change is taken 30 min after coffee.

Doc, for two and a half weeks I had keto flu..aching, restless, nauseous nightmare with close to ZERO sleep at night! I drank two ACV/lemon juice in 10 oz of water a day, supplemented with lots of mag/potassium and added NoSalt to every savory food and sprinkled in my ACV drink and NO RELIEF! I was on a high in the morning hours with BPC but my first meal at noon would start a downhill slide that worsened every hour until culminating in misery at bedtime. I told Hyland’s restless leg meds and a combo pill of valerian and passionflower to try to ease the anxiety of overwound feeling but it is like it made it all worse! I have arthritis and fibromyalgia and this was all causing my pain to be all the sharper! Now, I lost 7 pounds the first two weeks and that was awesome BUT NOT WORTH the MISERY! I added a quarter cup raw organic oatmeal to a quarter cup of plain Greek yogurt and added a tablespoon of berry purée to this with approved sweetener and it immediately eased down...was I cutting everything too low? I eat lots of salad with great add ins, a small portion of healthy meat and a little cheese here and there but not much. I looked up my symptoms and saw Dr. Osborne had a video about women over forty having to be particular when doing keto. I am 55 and desperate to be healthier to keep up with my sweet grandkids! HELP! I still sleep only 2-4 total hours at night and am taking pain meds twice during the night which I was NOT doing before keto/IF! Pain meds are Kratom only.

Doc, I think you and your wife are amazing. I do worry about your appearance. Redness are eyes. Some dark circles. A little paleness. That worries me. Bc I feel the proof shows itself in appearance (not only appearance!).
Having noticed these things, I need to use critical thinking and ask why. I’ve been following you previous to keto and you looked healthier to me. This is just my opinion. Your material is wonderful and I down want to take away from all the good that you do. But I need to know if you FEEL well.

Cool. I did 6 weeks of 16/8, then 6 weeks of 18/6, and have been 20/4 for the past 4 months. More than happy to eat this way. Take care. 💖🙂🐶
