I daydream to nightdream. It works really because that's when I am most relaxed — when I'm not me.

People with ADHD need more sleep than the average person

I never knew this but it makes so much sense. I thought I've been oversleeping

This is a game changer for me! I can usually fall sleep fairly quickly, but I wake up between 2-4 am and can't stop the thoughts. I saw this video a few days ago and I tried counting my breaths. I haven't made it past 90 breaths before falling asleep the last few days. Thank you for all of this content!

And yet when I close my eyes at 2 pm, I'm almost instantly asleep for 90 minutes, sitting up.

ADHD also involves dysregulation of the hormone that gets you to sleep, melatonin. It's not necessarily just an issue of getting out of your head, but may also be that you aren't properly producing or responding to *sleepiness*. Occasionally taking melatonin supplements before bed has shown to greatly improve both sleep quality and ADHD symptoms in people with ADHD, and might be worth trying if you struggle with getting to sleep or sleeping well!
The way I run is normally at 100mph for about 20-30+ hours straight until my body finally buckles and I basically pass out into heavy, dreamless sleep for 9-12 hours. Noise or low-volume podcasts are helpful, but with melatonin supplements, I sleep regularly and only need about 6-7 hours of light sleep (with actual dreams!)

I've daydreamed myself to sleep for as long as I can remember. I've developed a specifics cast of characters all in my head that I don't really talk about or use for anything else other than for sleep. I'm familiar enough with them that it relaxes me to think about them and they are associated with sleep which is really helpful. The stories, although reparative, are just interesting enough to keep my mind from spiralling off on random tangents.

I'm glad you pointed how you may feel super tired but still can fall asleep, i have been trying to explain that i feel super tired and sleepy but just can "get out of My head" easily. I am going to try this tips and others mentioned in the comments, thanks!

Frequency music is great to fall asleep. Stop with the electronics like 1-2 hours before as well.

I’ve found that it helps to (1) write a To-Do List or scheduled plan for the next day so that I’m not constantly turning over all the things I’ll need to do in my mind and (2) write at least a one-page journal entry describing what happened during the day and how I felt about it. Getting these things down on paper really helps to brain dump so I can go to bed with a clear mind and heart. The journal also helps me with storing memories, so I don’t end up with a bunch of memory-linked clutter as is mentioned in another on of these videos.

I used to read myself to sleep pretty much every night. Now I listen to audio books, preferably books I've already read, but like very much. I find that listening to the stories helps me chill and get to sleep much faster, and on the nights that I really can't go to sleep, at least I have something to do that keeps me from ruminating.(too much)

So very true!!! And brown noise is simply brilliant!
I also recommend acupressure mat (spoiler alert - I will recommend a brand). Since I started lying down on my acupressure mat (I got mine from Shakti Mat) and, at the same time, listening to the brown noise, it simply reset my sleep. It has been such a game changer! The brown noise on its own works really well, but when you team it up with acupressure for a good 20 to 30 minutes, I can swear by the outcomes ❤️
I am not diagnosed, but I am almost sure that I have ADHD . It just takes forever to get to the doctor and receive a diagnosis. I would be seriously surprised if they told me I don’t have ADHD.
In fact, I think I would be worried, because if it’s not, ADHD then what??
I’m definitely not Neurotypical.

This video is so great! Thanks for sharing it 😊

I tend to scroll YouTube in bed because it keeps my brain occupied so I can fall asleep faster. Either that or listen to a mediation. As long as my brain is focused on something else, it doesn’t get crowded with overthinking!

My doctor told me to get out of bed if I'm not asleep in fifteen minutes and do something that makes me happy and try again when I feel tired again it really works

I’ve found falling asleep listening to anything with my AirPods really helps keep the thoughts silent (can’t hear them!) Sadly one airpod lodged in my pj top and the following morning fell into the toilet so now I only have 50% coverage to fall asleep 😂

It’s both awesome and sad to realize how many things I struggled with as a child were ADHD symptoms. HUGE props to my mom for sitting next to my bed and essentially narrating a personalized sleep meditation on the really bad nights; she’d tell me to imagine my body gradually floating into the air, from bottom to top, in minute stages (toes, balls of the feet, heels, ankles, shins, knees, etc...) 😇

This content is crazy good ! Is ADHD that much a small niche that it does not go viral ? Crazy that it does not get pushed more

All the other ADHD pages that I have seen are only focusing on highlighting the issues without sharing anything about how to get over them. Thank you for this, I just hit subscribe.
