When one combines 'do it right' with 'can't finish anything' it will drive people close to you f'n crazy.

This came up on my feed exactly on a day where I'm not working on a project I need to complete because I'm in the 'nothing' side of the 'all or nothing' motivation see-saw. I'll compromise and go work on it for an hour...

For more information about this topic I suggest Dr. Gabor Mate and also "the crappy childhood fairy" as a tool to help. All the best

Those lessons are nice and I can be calm in those moments, but the stressors of the world flood back like a torrent of knives I cannot ignore. Especially the need for a job for some income.

This would be a difficult way to live. Mindfulness, meditation and doing what you enjoy without judging anything, including yourself, is all you can do.

My husband often says that I’m like binary code.. either I’m 0 or 1, there’s nothing in between. Full speed or standing still 🤷🏼‍♀️ … maybe I have HDHD too..🤔😅 there are so many things here I recognize from myself..🙈

Huh. My mom used to tell me I had an all or nothing mindset. She used to tell me often about my negative adhd traits without acknowledging that it was actually adhd. We both knew I had ADHD but I didn’t know how much it affects my thoughts and feelings. I thought I was just going insane. When she finally kicked me out of the house she informed me that I was diagnosed with schizoeffective (not sure about the spelling) disorder as a kid. I told her that this was news to me and she mumbled something about it being mentioned every now and again. She let me look through my medical files she has and I saw nothing about it. What’s funny is that she knew I wasn’t going to find anything so while she was flipping through her stack of files she was like “Oh look! Some of your old pictures!” It worked and I gave up looking.
She then took it upon herself to make a list of things I told her that could have been somewhat relevant to her chosen diagnosis to give to my doctor. At that point I still believed her. When I showed my doctor she was like “er, okay.” And brushed the list aside.
After moving with a friend and get back in contact with a sibling I learned from them that they were the one with that diagnosis. It can’t be genetics because they’re my step sibling. My mom just used that to discredit anything I say about her.
She was a cruel mother at times. I understand she’s had a rough life and after actually researching ADHD myself I can see why my mental state has been declining. I didn’t know it was an actual serious disability. I thought I had brain damage from a previous suicide attempt. I was sure I was doomed to die of an overdose on the street homeless and completely alone. I didn’t understand why it was so hard to live life like a normal human being. I didn’t know what I was doing wrong. The depression wouldn’t let up and i just couldn’t make sense of it. No medication worked.

Whatever. I just wanted to vent some but this is getting too long. My mom has ADHD too so idk how she didn’t seem to notice it in her own daughter. She works in a psychiatric hospital so…
