In a depressed state, actor and yoga expert Maude Hirst explains that 'we often try to push feelings away and sometimes it's the resistance that makes these feelings grow stronger.' In this 10-minute meditation, Maude guides you through the importance of becoming aware of this struggle and how daily practice can help you to better understand what's happening within you.

As someone that’s suffering from chronic depression I’ve had a lot of people telling me to meditate and they give you the impression that if you meditate everything will be ok. The reason I like this video is because we’re not sold lies. Meditation takes dedication and practice for it to start making small changes to our lives. I think it’s important to understand this otherwise you’ll give up expecting too much. Thank you for your video I’ve added this to my meditation routine as I have a few I follow daily ✌🏻❤️

Time and time again I’ve been told to try meditation for my severe depression. This is my first attempt and I already feel lighter. Thank you for your guidance to find our self love and self belief

Past few days I was walking around with an extremely tight chest and restlessness, thinking it was just random. The second I drew my breathing attention to the heart, I started sobbing. I forgot how releasing meditation can be, and I still find it so extremely difficult to do because I cannot tolerate the speed and ferocity of my thoughts when in complete silence. But this meditation gave me hope that it might help... Thank you.

This is only my first time trying this, I don’t know if it did a whole lot. But it did force me to slow down, think through my feelings and allow myself to actively decide if I want to keep them. It definitely made me calmer and relaxed. As someone who struggles with anxiety and depression, I’m going to try to keep doing meditation to see if it helps

This video is my favorite, I always come back and I begin to cleanse my head. My biggest pet peeve with depression is feeling my mind being heavy and overbearing, i feel like this video cleans all that stuff from my brain and I can breathe again.

It's my birthday weekend and I have felt really shitty. Not feeling happy or special and my people been fussing at me all day. I did this video as an assignment for my yoga class and I am now subscribed. Your voice and just kind words stopped me from wanting to cry myself to sleep tonight. Depression/anxiety have made it where eating is harder for me than test taking. I have so many mental struggles, and I just wanted a happy 22nd :/, but thanks for a little peace from your video

I was in so much sadness and emotional overwhelmed I couldn't stop took me 3 minutes in and towards the end when I opened my eyes I realized life is beautiful and my depression is not going to defeat me.

My niece and I just tried this meditation for the first time. She said she doesn't know for sure what happened, but it made her feel better. Thank you for this valuable tool to shift our feelings into something more positive. 💟

I really enjoy doing this meditation, I like too do this cross legged sitting on a mat and closing my eyes and just relaxing too the voice I have had depression since I was 16 and had a eating disorder from 20 too 22, it was such a stressful time for me . I don’t think a lot of people understand depression I needed this too unwind and relax me as I prepare for another day on Lockdown.

I came across this meditation this morning. And I have to say that I totally loved it. I am struggling with depression. At the moment this meditation gave me so much relief. Although it takes much more than just meditation, but I sure am blessed to have done this today.

Thanks so much for this precious video. Recently, my first thought whenever I put a meditation on is to pause it & play it "later". This mythical "later" never comes, and I skip yet another day of meditation. Today I resisted. Something in your voice captured my attention, and held it! This was so beautiful. I love what you said about a small change being a victory and to show ourselves more compassion. I had been crying seconds before, and was still crying during the mediation, but your voice and the comfort of the bolster made me feel held, supported, guided, in all the ways I needed. i needed this mediation. when u asked us to bring our attention to the highlighted part of our body, i put both of my hands on my heart/chest. while in meditation, i forgot what u said, but i heard 3 voices in my head say “it’s a lesson”. i believe this was my spirit guides. thank you so much for this mediation.
