This is great information. However, as she mentioned, parents need counseling as well. Adults have busy lives!!! Adults have to be on top of their game when noticing these behaviors. When someone has three or four kids, a single parent, etc. these behaviors can be overlooked so fast. The parent goes through their day w/ work, school, society, groceries, bills, marital issues, etc. my point is, it takes a special person to be a parent. Not looking for perfection but it’s definitely a job.

Narcs are made, not born. My twin is a narc, Iam not. Narcs are trained by their parents.

When she says to sit with your child and watch a movie/read a book, and ask the child how they think that character is feeling, couldn't that just be cognitive empathy, which as I understand it narcissists are capable of? Like, a narcissist can figure out in a logical sense how someone would be feeling, they just don't care and aren't emotionally effected by it?

My mom raised three narc boys and I’m always freaked out that I might raise my son like that even though I’m fully aware not too.

My son has empathy for everyone except myself and his sister.
I've got him in therapy but I have no idea if the therapist is truly addressing the issue bc we don't talk about what they spoke about, after the appt.

How can someone watch the full version of this episode if they don't have the Roku channel? This video is only 7:09 minutes long.

I worry about my son. He just says ''I don't care'' whatever I try to say to him. His sister is not a narcissist. I raised her and she has empathy. My son is 13 and whenever I try to ''guide'' him, help him to view a situation with less anger, he is totally shut down and will not engage at all.

Yoi certainly cannot fix a narc and if you're Mom is one and you are upset over a breakup her response will be: oh well, it wasn't meant to be.

My son is 18 and Daughter 16 and I feel like I have failed as a parent. I know I didn’t, not really. Their choices and my response to those choices have led them to where they are. Thank you for this insight and knowledge❤️‍🩹 it’s simple but so hard. I can do this!
