Absolutely do NOT go into that conversation without options on the table...

That’s such a good line … I hesitate calling it a line, because it’s TRUE: “I know I must appear very selfish to you… An ignorant of the pressure you’re under. “

If you know Chris he's an absolute legend, og listeners caught the recommendation 1. Labeling 2. Frame question around a No 3. Ask a how question

I worked for a liar for 9 years. Promised me so much and then just didn’t do anything. I had 2 different jobs while being there. First job they had to spilt into 3 different people for all I did. Second job same thing got spilt into 3 jobs. I worked my ass off for him and was underpaid, undervalued and neglected. I now work for myself

I wish I knew how to get there gently like he said. I’m working on it. Getting there ungently has caused me many problems in my life.

To the young people reading this, if the boss wanted to give you the promotion they would have. Actions speak louder than words and thats not just a saying. Know your worth and move on if you gave it honest effort. Reasoning with a boss that never intended to fulfill that promise or clearly changed their mind puts you both in an awkward situation where you still arent getting that raise without some new arbitrary finish line. Moving to another job with your honest effort experience will get you more money and more respect. Stay strong kings and queens

Just remember that loyalty only works one way, look out for yourself because the company isn't going to. Also ALWAYS be looking for new opportunities so that if this happens to you, you're not S.O.L.

Three of us were working our ass off for 6 months to get a promotion, then the job was filled by a guy who had just married the VP's daughter. All three of us quit, and the VP begged us to stay because we were his top earners. We told him to grab ankles for the douche that was banging his daughter. The VP was fired a month later.

Renegotiate your contract. Agreeable people make less money because they are so conflict averse that they never stick up for themselves.

Every single employer/manager I have had as an adult has lied and manipulated. It’s only gotten worse over the years. I’ve had careers destroyed due to this type of practice. We need to start standing up and filing lawsuits where applicable.

I find it hard to continue doing business with someone who would choose not to deal with me in good faith.

1ST Get your hands on all the "DATA" you can! Set yourself up for full success at your next job or if you branch out on your own.

I have seen a bunch of these and they are brilliant!

A boss like that will usually try to reverse that on you. "Are you calling me a liar?!? Who do you think you are!? You misunderstood!". Much better to just quit. No gentle words.

Right worked for me, but they kept their promise.

Finding a new job is much easier when you are already employed! Get a new job offer before you have this conversation. Not a prospect...An Offer! Then, when you have this conversation, you have more leverage.

I worked for a company for 21 years and when I put in my notice my department head bowed his head and knew they fucked up.

Never have this conversation with he boss, they will rage out and fire you on the spot. They told you with their actions that they don't want to follow through on their promises, which means they don't want him as an employee there. The correct move is to move on to the next company, resign, no exit interview. Never let them know your moves in advance, it will only be used against you.
