The problem is when the boss doesn't really support you. Then the drama is all against you and there is no one to help you at all.

It’s funny how in some companies hard work or expertise goes unnoticed. Some teams are so dysfunctional that it doesn’t matter what you do.

People hate you at work because:
1. Your are better than them, you are a threat.
2. They want to be you.
3. They hate themselves.

I started working in offices when I was 17 and man, the number of psychos I have met over the years is frightening.

No matter where you go to work, it's everywhere like a virus. But, when I go to work, I try to keep focus, do my work and stay away from gossipers. I've seen people get fired over escalated drama. To me, no one is worth me losing my job.

This is why I like working from home so much, the office politics are still there but you are much more removed from it all, harder to get dragged in to all the drama when your only present for meetings 🙂

I have been a victim of this.. first they isolate you. Then they gossip about you, give you code names etc., they ignore you/refuse to help, highlight your faults. Weak people give up.

I just go to work, do my work and avoid the drama related people. Then, go home.

Office politics are the pits! be careful setting yourself apart and a becoming a ‘super star’ as it can make others jealous and cause more problems. Also, becoming the expert is not so easy, especially if you new to the company and there has been others working there for years. The rest is sound advice, thank you for sharing. Love the end quote 👍

To all the young people starting out as an employee. Save your money, invest smart, build assets and get out of the “Rat race ” and you won’t have to ever deal with office drama. Good luck the best time to start is today. Also your home is not an asset, it’s a liability. Unless it’s printing money for you every month.

#1 will help you keep your job until you find your next one. People don't like seeing others flourish at work because they see it as a threat, especially when it's your own supervisor who you naturally are more skilled than who will see you as a threat.

I have worked for the Federal Government for 13 years. Management all have Ph.D.'s in demoralization.

I always tell people is to show up, do your thing, leave. Work can be fun, it it's not a sitcom.

Yes, my company was acquired by another and as a result, I got a new director. This person engaged in office drama, played favorites. My strategy was to always be kind, efficient and professional as possible. I was friendly to this person, however, I increased my job searching.

i constantly shine in my position, I am the expert in my role with many years experience. - At the end of the day everyone is replaceable even CEOs. Politics are initiated by selfish, insecure narcissists. No matter how AMAZING I am at my job I always find myself working with sneaky snakes who are protected by upper management and they take advantage of that because no matter what they do, they get away with everything. HR is in place to protect the company not the people. These assholes cultivate such toxic cultures. It's a shame!

It's important to not just quit your job. It is easier to find a job when you already have one. If your current job is too difficult to work with some people due to politics? It is time to move on. Otherwise it will affect your health and possible your family. Is some work environments, we do have managers or fellow workers who enjoys others pain and cause drama. What your chose to do should be done in a timely manner.
