My trainer said to me “train like an athlete” and stressed the importance of being able to have strength for the daily living i.e. carrying groceries up three flights of stairs, unclipping a baby from a car seat and picking them up (rotation) and being able to squat and lift and move heavy items. At 81 I swing, snatch, rack and press and feel strong. Love my kettlebells.

Train both ways. Abs are for both functions. Athletic movement patterns are dynamic and require more than just stability.

Stability training is my favourite. Its really improved my deadlift and squat

Or maybe...just maybe...you can incorporate both dynamic and static work in your core workouts.

This is 100% accurate. I had really nice abs when I was in my early 20's, and I was working out a lot. Ended up with serious back+hip problems, found out that my core was actually super weak, especially when it comes to correct posture, movement, and what I would refer to as core strength, rather than ab muscle strength. After a year with a very talented PT I'm now significantly stronger, more stable and even a bit taller than I ever was.

Can you please make a longer video covering a few different “usable” ab exercises?

Crunches hurt even on a pad. Hurts my spine. Gotta watch this a few more times.

Just do seated leg raises, half bridges, side crunches, and tuck rotations lol that’s what we used to do for gymnastics and the core stability from it was insane

I'm starting to get the impression that most problems in life can be cured by bracing your core and doing stability exercises.

Have been using this ever since I saw this variant of your shorts. And I say it, I have never felt my abs engaged like that after training

i started doing pilates at home and i think that this is definitely the kind of core strength it’s building i feel so much stronger just from sitting up after doing it every other day for a few weeks

As i got older and i used to bodybuild in the past i realise stability training can bring also great real world usable gains, and if you got the muscle already it really stimulates it like ways conventional weighta dont
