When I was growing up my grandma would always say, shame on you or you should be ashamed of yourself. And I always remember wondering why her parents told her to shame herself all the time and if she realized that she was literally telling me to feel guilty and full of shame because I didn’t do exactly what she wanted, right when she wanted it.

I hope everyone reading this will be able to recover. We are human so we all make mistakes where sometimes other people make us feel especially guilty for our actions. Have self-compassion and treat yourself as you would treat a friend. The past is the past, and we need to make mistakes for us to learn.

I'm Sorry 

For many years, I carried a deep sense of guilt with me. Which has kept shifting, as soon as I apologized to a person for something. I carried the guilt with me and tortured myself for many years. Until I realized, the only person I really needed to apologize to, was myself. I have tortured myself the most. So every day, I apologize to myself, for what I did to myself. This is how I find my innocence; that I once lost, again. And by apologizing to myself, I release my guilt. And so I don't do anything to others either. Because I am at peace with myself and therefore, with the world. Therefore, if you carry guilt with you, apologize to yourself. Because you can't torture yourself and apologize to yourself at the same time. Tormenting inflicts sorrow and apologizing takes away sorrow. "Anyway" and "Yes", are the words that enable me, to apologize to myself. Because I get impulses, to get back in the hamsterwheel of apologizing for certain things or tormenting myself. But I say: "Yes, I apologize to myself anyway." And I apologize to others, if it is my choice. And I use these two methods. In which I either apologize to the people personally or within me, whichever I choose.b

My main problem is definitely being angry at myself for things I can't change...alot of the other 1s, like jealousy, are laughable...still alot of good info for making positive changes

I feel toxic guilt. Why? My Ex wife has said in spite, everything which amounts to my weaknesses. Having mybe reacted better to her wishes (albeit agressive how she was) maybe because she was resentful-meaning I caused it?! well for many years I gave her what I could, made many mistakes-which I feel guilt of and for...this is killing me
