That queue also works with straps as you just hold them in place with your fingers

I don't understand. I wedge the bar into my hands. Only time it rolls even with mix grip is when my grip is failing. Usually under max effort with reps. Grip fatigues even with mix grip. I suggest double over hand for all warm ups and accessories to their limits. Max work with whatever grip after. For me it's mixed.

Also your hands getting tore up because the knurling and your grip of falling. Only reason to allow letting is slip down is straps to shorten range of motion. This video irritates me. Pete rubish is of the train deadlift with straps and train grip separate. I say train double overhand till your grip fails then move to mix. Eventually your double overhand will get stronger.
Also train all accessory deadlift stuff with straps so you can focus on improving the deadlift and not your grip strength
