Straps are great for volume work, RDLs, SLDL…. Though strapless work should be incorporated like for singles, doubles and triples. Basically use both

Agree. I am avoiding straps for RDL too.

It put you in the shoes of finding a better solution like strengthening your grip, using the mixed grip or the hookgrip.

I use hook grip as much as possible until I tear my skin and have callouses. After that I use straps to help recover my skin especially approaching meet. I usuallg hook grip my top set before I use straps when performing my back down sets.

I so agree straps hinder especially in powerlifting build the strength in your hands for a better grip👍

As someone that’s pulled over 600lbs doing both, not insane deadlifts but I’d like to think respectable. I’ve found it’s almost 2 different lifts. It’s two different set ups. I feel powerlifting is great for a faster set up and a bigger pop off the floor but my erectors take the brunt of it. With straps I find I can get a little more weight behind the bar and more in my posterior chain and it’s still strong just not as fast tho I can be more aggressive on the pull. I do mix grip tho so hook grip might have minimal difference but I’ve never really found the practice of straps for powerlifting I’ve seen some do once they get to doubles, triples etc. like I said, feels like two different styles of pulling to me. Also why some strongmen or powerlifters that crossed over it doesn’t always carry over like Benni in a suit and straps records were minuscule over his powerlifting. Or Andy Bolton didn’t do as well in straps.

I train with straps for hypertrophy work and ive always just made sure its as tight as my arm actually holding the bar instead of if hanging fr my fingers, the exact same way if i didn't have them. Works great! Strapless however shows me where im truly at, just gotta be aware of what you are doing and I think training with and without really helps

If im not wrongvtho the problem here is that he used one of those closed straps whre you stick your hand through 2 holes in stead of one and wraping the rest around the bar, i use the latter and one of the times where my body just gave out after the lift, the bar just spins an lets me go imediatly since i have the wrap kind. But he has to get one of the holes on both hans and thus when he was falling his body got stuck to the bar and fucking rotated on it 😂

Mix grip pullers can realistically pull without straps. Hook grip on the other hand I find it so unnecessary to not use straps other than a single and warm ups.

I can't lock the lats and brace properly with staps. I think it's the amount of air taken in. Also I tend to stand a bit longer on the floor with adjusting the straps.

I don’t compete, I do 5-10 reps and I don’t care much about grip, it’s good enough.

You could just tighten the straps up, so that you don't hold the bar low in your hand

Agreed bro I think my grip is weak I always used straps then one day 🫡 I try lifting without them then I lift more than normal now I don't lift with straps just use chak it help me a lot 🏋️💪

If you don't do strongman movements with thick implements like axles, figure 8 straps are not for you. They are literally stupid for everything else

If u use the straps tightly i even feel Like pulling without them feels better cause i can brace harder by standing up when inhaling contrary to beeing near the Floor when having straps on
