I just started cycling back in April of 2016. I finished just shy of 4, 000 miles before the New Year. In that time I dropped 65 lbs, went from 40"-42" waist pants to 34" waist pants, went from XL shirts to M shirts, my resting heart rate dropped from the mid-upper 80's to the upper 40's-low 50's, my blood pressure has normalized, and I went from only being able to ride 5-8 miles at a time with a 10-12 mph pace to riding over 100 miles at a time with a 19-22 mph pace. For 2017, my focus is to continue to get in shape, but my goal has moved beyond just losing weight. I want to continually work on becoming a faster and stronger rider. I want to race and compete locally in 2017... and win 😎

I dropped alcohol from my diet late last year. I have also
just bought a house 10 miles away from work with a nice canal path ride into
work and back so away from the cars and busses. I have found not drinking
alcohol has 2 main benefits, being that I consume less calories and also don’t
miss rides at the weekend because of a hangover from Friday/sat night. It also
means I have more money in my pocket. I have also removed fast food from my
diet, and make my own lunch every day so I know what I am eating is fresh and isn’t
full of chemicals. My Strava times keep going down and also my weight is
dropping from 84kg to 76kg. My target weight of 70kg and I know this weight is
healthy for me because it was my race weight when I was 18. For anyone reading
this, I didn’t think I could cut alcohol out of my diet, but I did and once I
got started the momentum helped me become more disciplined in other areas of my
life. Best of luck to everyone who is trying to lose weight. Believe in yourself
and set clear and achievable targets. You can do it, and it is so worth it.

top tip - take extra food on your ride. Give food to your riding buddy. Watch your riding buddy get fatter whilst you get thinner. Double the result!!!

Got very motivated in 2015 and took off 35 pounds and went to my 50 year High School Reunion at a svelte 194. People noticed and I am working hard to stay close to that weight. Ride the trainer and do some GCN training workouts which help in the winter. Summer is a 2-3 hour ride in varying difficulty 4 to 6 days a week. GCN has inspired me to keep this 69 year-old body fit.

I lost 50 pounds last summer just from cycling and going for walks 5 days a week. I hope to lose another 20 this year. Cycling is definitely one of the best hobbies I have taken on.

For crying out loud. The places where you guys ride are always that breathtaking? Here in Brazil we do have quite amazing places with tremendous views as well, but man... Those mountains are simply Majestic!!

For A cyclist a bit on the plump side at 110kg. Since going out on boxing day and riding through on the school break now down to 102kg. Will take up the advice of staying indoors and trying this out.

I just picked up cycling for weight loss and mental health care. I'm 210 pounds and 5 foot tall. It's tough, but I love it. I just adore your channel and I watch videos daily to learn more.

Thanks GCN for the insights. At the end of the day, there are no shortcuts to losing weight: one has got to train more and eat less rubbish... cheers!

I've lost 8kg so far in 2017 just following the GCN indoor works outs (and a little healthy eating). Have realised that's the equivalent of doing every climb towing an extra bike!

Have treated myself to a nice fizik saddle for the hard work and promised myself a garmin then some wheels in the future if I can keep going.

Thanks to you guys, I started cycling 2 months ago, doing an average 30km everyday, 6 days a week and some occasional long rides of 50kms+, and have lost almost 6kgs now in this 2 months. I went from 82kg to 76kg :) Hoping to loose more in the upcoming days... And strava is really giving enough motivation to stick to riding... and btw, Happy new year everyone..
