This case is notoriously controversial due to retracted testimony and contradictory evidence.

A ballistics expert analyzed the officer's body and provided his professional opinion claiming, "| do not believe that it was Workman's gun that fired the shot that fatally wounded [Lt.] Oliver".

Workman appealed his decision, but was ultimately rejected and he was put to death at
1:50am on May 9th, 2007.

His final words were, " commend my spirit into your hands, Lord Jesus Christ".

He was indeed framed
He never actually shot a cop. He shot _at_ a cop but the cop was shot by his incompetent partner. The evidence clearly shows he was injured and killed by a .38 caliber bullet, the same caliber the other cop used. Phillip was a (relatively innocent) man 🙏

I hate how the legal system has gotten worse over the years. This dude kills one person and he gets a death sentence but a woman last year brutally bludgeons her very young nephew to death and doesn’t even get 20 years

He probably wouldn't have gotten the death sentence if he hadn't killed a cop. Robbing a Wendy's and wanting to feed someone homeless tells me he was probably just poor and hungry. Yikes.

This case is complex and unusual to say the least. Ballistic analysis conducted by various experts on the shooting have been uncertain whether it was workman. In fact 5 of the jurors have come out to withdraw their guilty verdict. Even numerous justices including state Supreme Court justices have advocated for a retrial. Even the main witness, Harold Davis was discovered to be a unreliable witness and even withdrew his testimony. Whatever the case me be, I hope the truth and justice is revealed in his afterlife.
