I was doing really well with my workouts, when doing laying leg raises at home yesterday, I felt sudden pain in my lower spine. Maybe a spinal erector or smaller muscles underneath. Just pain in the area immediately next to the spine. I will follow your videos to slowly build back strength in my lower back. Great work!

So I had a line of duty injury as a firefighter and in 2020 had to have my L5/S1 fusion done. L4/L5 was also bad, but we were hoping to get 5 years out of it. I’ve just had a flare up after years of pretty much pain free living, though my activity levels are nothing.
Any recommendations to begin getting my back into better shape?

This is great info, how can I start to incorporate these into my training along with other things for my knees?

I just do regular sessions yk, so do I throw exercises like these on a back day or, how can I do these during the week to get actual strengthening? Would love to hear from anyone.

Don't avoid the hard, heavy, hip-hinging movements and you will have a strong lower back. Squat properly, RDL properly and your lower back will be just fine.

Would you say power yoga would be a great alternative when struggling with lower back/hip pain as compared with doing your exercises?

Instead of these exercises, I prefer exercises that train your core to limit spinal motion, which is the exact intended function of those muscles. Things like offset kettlebell standing marches, offset lunges, suitcase carries, some spruced up version of planks and side planks, the like.

Their goal is to provide stability not lifting the weight. You got other muscles to do that job so no, it doesnt make sense to me.
