As a massage therapist watching your videos I'm continuously nodding yes because everything you say I believe in. Biggest takeaway that I always give to my client is is that pain does not always equal tissue damage.

I suffer from lower back pain for a couple of months already and in the last two days it got a lot worse and it really tears my life down. And then BAM you release this video at just the moment when I need it the most. Thank you a lot, Daniel.

Another great video! Thank you so much! Will try these exercises tomorrow.

2 years ago I fixed my lower back pain that bothered me for 20 years. I had gotten to a point where I barely walked, could not make a left turn in my car without screaming, and didn't know if I can get out of bed in the morning. I used very controlled deadlifts as a way to teach myself balance. But the idea was exactly what you said at 01:47 - '...get the hip muscles firing...". A very controlled deadlift teaches you just that - how to fire muscles that you may not use and as a result overload your lower back. In the case of deadlifts these are the glutes and the hamstrings. After some weeks of training they start to take over and the back pain disappears within a few days. Also there is no more tension in the back in the morning or in the evening. The results are beyond amazing - zero back pain.

But the exercises that you show in that video can not be substituted. I see that they have to do with flexibility, strength, and retraining the body to use different muscles. A great video indeed! Thank you again, Daniel!

Thanks for this, Daniel! I've been struggling with off-and-on low back pain for probably a year now. Chiropractic work never helped for longer than a couple weeks, but I finally saw a physical therapist and she gave me plenty of exercises similar to yours which are slowly but surely paying off. The most helpful part of your video though, is the reminder that our backs are strong and know how to heal, pain doesn't mean flaws, and to stop being afraid of moving. Really appreciate this video.

I'm in that ~1% who does actually have a spinal fracture and I totally recommend these exercises, I've been doing similar routines over the past year that have helped tremendously. Also.... what you said at 4:28 is golden.... this is exactly what held me back for years! Great exercises and wise words!

last October i was diagnosed with a mild bulging disc (i dont see what is mild in it). Having the toughest time since, not because of the pain and discomfort but because had to give up on sports and even some basic exercises such as push ups.
For the first time after the injury i am checking out this channel and BOOM, a video on back pain.
I doubt whether i should be bending forward when the doctor has suggested otherwise. However, those inspirational words about how strong our back usually is, our self made fears and anxieties actually aggravating our problems and that we have inherent ability to cure are really touching.

Great video and came at the perfect time for me. Injured my back late last year and seemed to be taking a really long time to heal. Every back and core movement seemed to flair pain around my spine so I simply stopped doing everything. I went from being active (working out 5-6 time a week) to being afraid to even got for a run. Month went by and though a lot of the pain decreased I'm still in pain around the lower back, specifically when I curl my spin forward. At first I continued to be scared to move but eventually, after a long time of recovery massages and chiropractor visits, I decided I was going to introduce slow movements and began easing my body into a yoga child's pose. It hurt. But also felt good to get my spine moving in a way I hadn't allowed it to move for months. I've been doing this for over a week now and already I'm beginning to feel better. So, thanks for these exercises. I'm gonna start incorporating them today.

Suffering for multiple back pain conditions since 20 years. Your video is spot on. I am already doing lots of these movements but still learned new ones. You are precious.

I have hade frequent lower back pain over the last six months and I just put it down to my age(44) and the fact that I have been doing physical labor jobs since I was 16 but when I came across this video a month ago and decided to give it a go it has made a massive improvement especially the Jefferson curls. It is a great exercise for learning how to switch on your core!! Thanks Daniel!!

Great point about "wrong beliefs". I am forever hearing people say they've got a "slipped disk" when their back hurts. When I ask if a doctor actually gave them that diagnosis, they will say yes, but after pressing them some more, they invariably relent and admit no.

The first exercise killed it for me! I felt muscles activating that I normally don’t notice or can’t feel as well. I even had a gentle spine crack with the flexion, which felt great. Thank you 🙏🏽

I actually dig your videos so much. Such a chill philosophy compared to the stressful and pessimistic approach of other YouTubers, who make you think you need to work out in some extremely specific way to be at all healthy.

Interesting comment on fear dictating how we move regarding pain. I've only thought about things like confidence when it comes to movement and psychology.

About three months ago I strained my lower back (left side). I couldn't sit, walk without pain, it was hard to put on socks or reach below knee with straight legs. What I did I started to move. Everywhere I could, I was flexing and extending as far as I could. Now, I'm like 0, 5 cm to place my palms on the floor with straight legs (first time in my life). Listen to Daniel and MOVE!!!

Most of my lower back pain I normally solve with some psoas stretches because of being in a seated position for extended periods. These videos are excellent education on proper form and not to overload yourself thanks a million.

"There is not perfect posture" *So true!* I had lower back muscles stiffness and pain. The cause realy was because I sat very upright and always contracted my erctor spine. Only when I realized that its okay to sit loosely I started to feel more mobile and free with my spine (I still sit realtivly upright most of the time, but sometimes I allow myself to slouch). This is a great video on lower back pain! Thanks, daniel. 👍👍👍

Daniel, glad to see such a quality video for the back. you encourage people to move, and you don't lie, and you don't instill fear .... I say that because today when I watch people here in the EU through manual handling, Companies hire some fake idiots who then teach people how to lift loads properly and instill fear in people that if they make a little mistake they will damage their spine. And of course people damage it.They rise all the time without allowing the body to move ... They stiffen, do not use their muscles and get injured.

I'm in the 5% with nerve pinching pain and my physiotherapist gave me exercises extremely similar to these, just harder. E.g. They involve moving arms and legs at he same time when doing the leg extensions while you are down on your knees. It has been extremely helpful and after 3 months of doing them every other day I am almost pain free.

Make a video on how to achieve splits, bridge, or forward fold. From preparatory strengthening phase to common obsticles such as tight fascia or nerves, and progressive loaded stretching.
