How to FIX a Low Water Level in Your Toilet with NO Tools - Everything You NEED to Know About Toilets | Plumbing 101

If your toilet is having a problem flushing then here is how to fix it. You may notice at some point when flushing your toilet that not much water got down into the bowl to flush everything down. Well in today's video I'm going to show you the different parts of your toilet and how adjusting your fill valve/float can give your more water on each flush to help get that waste down the drain!

Everything You NEED to know about toilets is here! I break down all the components of your average toilet and sometimes even talk about toilets most people haven't seen so that if you are ever in a situation where your toilet is not working properly, whether your toilet is clogged up, or your toilet tank won't stop running you can easily find a solution to repair or replace the components of your toilet to get it back to working condition!

Thanks for watching! I'm Roger Wakefield, The Expert Plumber, and welcome to my channel. On this channel, it's ALL about plumbing. We play games, we experiment, and we have FUN here, talking and learning about all things plumbing!

We want to see how you do it. But you keep setting the camera aiming to your face.

As an almost 8 year plumber now... I appreciate videos like these. People... potential customers... should be proactive and look for easy repairs like this amongst many other things. Flappers, certain cartridge replacements, unjamming a disposal with the key etc...

I try to educate customers on what they can do on their own if they're comfortable.

Too many times you gotta charge 120-250 (pending on your area) for a job that takes 15 minutes.

People get pissy with you, but I always respond with, if you have a cold do you go to the emergency room? No

Do you go to the doctor? Usually no.

You take dayquil, plenty of fluid and rest until it's out of your system. Common sense to a doctor.

Same thing for us plumbers, you're calling me, a professional plumber to do a diy job like a flapper replacement. That is not my fault that you called me to do that. My rate stays the same just like any other profession.

If you're not comfortable with any hands on skills that's one thing. But if I waste my gas, wear and tear on my truck, and replace a flapper for 120$... most times with travel that still can wrap you up for 1.5-2 hrs. I'm still not making that much money

If you got a pump that's failed, an active leak, a bad clog that requires a machine, a remodel you want to do and plenty more. That's why we charge what we do.

If you're a homeowner please, do your own 5 minute Google search before calling a plumber to do an easy job that you're going to bitch about price on. Do it yourself. It's not worth our time.

for people who haven't been told the secret, yet; most modern toilets have a two level flush system. you may have noticed the water in the tank only went about halfway down every time Roger flushed. they are designed to do that if you just press and release the function key. it works where there isn't much solid stuff to go down. if there IS solid stuff, press and hold the function key. that runs the whole tank through, and gets a full flush. fancier toilets may have multiple buttons or a two direction handle to select between a low water flush and a full flush.

I learned this during a month I spent working for a mobile home manufacturer as warranty service - and in a few cases, we disabled the two level flush, because the homeowner didn't seem to get it. we also ended up adjusting the fill valve on over half the toilets we saw; whether we were there for a toilet problem or not.

It's been a while but I wanted to say that I still watch your streams actively! And thank you for this. My crummy landlord refuses to fix out toilet low water level and this would help out a lot.

Too much unnecessary talking and film clips. Wasting my time - could do it in 1 minute

We have the same Fluidmaster fill assembly, and it is adjusted fully but the water height is still too low. Do I have to remove the fill assembly to adjust the tube height, or is there a way to do so while it is still in the toilet? Thanks

Saved me time! Thank you so much! I was about to call maintenance. Googled a video. Did it by myself in less than a minute ❤❤❤

As for the old style brass fill valves, if your bowl isn't filling all the way, I've seen the rubber seat inside the valve crumble or swell up to a point where it restricts water flow to the bowl fill tube. So, your tank fills to the proper height, but water flow from the fill tube is low and doesn't fill the bowl as much as it used to. With the old brass ones, you can often take them apart and replace rubber the seals/seat. With the old style ones, adjusting the water level in the tank is as simple as bending the float rod.

Will this also fix a low water level in the bowl? My toilet has enough water to flush, but it doesn't refill the bowl with enough water.

I could cheerfully do without the interjections of unrelated clips (meant to be funny?). It's really irritating. Had to change channels.

I had that problem too, when I opened up the tank the water tube that went to the overflow, had unclipped itself. That meant none of that water could get down into the toilet to fill it up after Flushing. And just a word of advice to anyone else, try not to use this blue cleaning tablets, it makes it really messy and nasty to work on the tank. Just get one of the deodorizers that Clips on the side of the bowl.

I did it!! Thank you so much!! It was so low you had to double flush and clean up 😣 not anymore 🎉

Why are you unclipping it rather than just twisting/turning the inlet/fill valve height adjust. If that clip is brittle you have a fairly good chance of snapping it.

Good info but way overkill on foolishness

Always lay the lid on the floor outside the bathroom !!!! I yelled at my apprentice after he put on countertop and knocked it off. Not only did it break but also scratched customers countertop!!!

Your vid is terrible. Too much nonsense. Too much talk. Nobody needs a lecture about being careful handling the lid. Get to the point.

I want to figure out how to get more water in the bowl not the tank. That’s the issue with all these newer toilets. There’s no water in the bowl so when you go number two everything sticks to the front of the bowl and doesn’t get into the water.
