ONE EXERCISE… TO RULE THEM ALL…

This routine will help you progress every single day with just 10 minutes of practice, BUT you won’t get those benefits unless you do this exercise RIGHT.

In this video, prepare to ditch your bad habits and get the most out of your 10 minute routine. Practice this exercise every day and you'll become a master of finger shifting, walking bass lines and plucking.

No hobbits were harmed in the making of this bass lesson. 🧝

Josh makes these kind of videos that gives you the urge to pick up your bass immediately and start playing. No showing off. No flexing. Just pure motivation. Thanks mate.

When Josh says "it'll take a long time" to get rid of the flying fingers, take it to heart. I've been playing for years, but never really focused on economy of motion until recently. I've been focused on proper technique for about four months and I've improved but still am not to where I want to be. Don't get discouraged if you're not keeping your fingers down after only a couple weeks of practice!

Learning bass was a childhood dream of mine but my parents wouldn’t let me 😢
Just yesterday I realised, hey, I am 33, now I can learn it if I want! So I ordered stuff and I am looking forward learning with your videos ❤

This guy is great. I’m halfway through his (paid) lessons and in less than 2 weeks I can play along with my (hugely more experienced) mates in their band. This is no paid promo (I don’t even know the dude…I live in Australia!) but I guarantee you, if you want to learn the bass, pay him his money…it’s not much…and have him teach you.

I have to admit, when I first started going through this video my first instinct was to blow through the exercise, but it's more challenging than I anticipated; especially trying to play it clean and clear. And I've been playing for over 30 years! Thanks for keeping the old dog in line!

I've been a professional music educator for 4 decades. This is the best bass teaching video that I've seen. I'm so glad that I've stumbled across your channel. I'll quickly refer you to all my students.

At 65 yrs old I'm taking up bass guitar. I've been a recording engineer and mastering engineer at various times but retired now and having fun. Good lesson/teacher!

Alright so, gotta say it: this is the best bass class video on the internet. And having watched only this I can bet is the best bass channel on YouTube right now. Everything is on point; good delivery, no stalling, comprensible explanations, great sense of humor, LOTR memes. This is peak bass

6 weeks ago I started bass lessons irl. I'm 54 and always loved bass, but never thought of playing it myself, now suddenly I thought, hey why not. I'm never gonna excel or anything, but just to play along with some simpler tunes would make me happy. I am gonna do this excercise daily now. Not even at 100bpm yet, but whatever, I'll get there. You're stimulating me to do more, so thanks and keep up the good work 👍

If you can play bass with people instead of sitting in a room on your own, you might find the inspiration and excitement of playing along with others keeps you going. Especially if you can gig. That’s how it’s gone for me. I have been lucky to play with some amazing musicians.i am completely rubbish at bass the weakest link in the band. But I practice my ass off to try and not let down the people I am in a band with. He is right! Only find inspiration from others. So what your not as good as others. They are doing their thing. You are doing yours. Least your playing .Things of great value are seldom achieved instantly . If music was easy it would be boring

The effort you put in is outstanding! You are the best teacher and I love how you play with Squires and not expensive instruments... you rock! You really make learning bass what its supposed to be... fun!

Josh, you are one if the few bass coaches here on Youtube who can make practicing things like this fun and entertaining. And you don't need to apologize for being funny.

A bought my first bass literally a few days ago and have been watching dozens (hundreds?) of videos for a total beginner and this is the best I’ve found.

When my son bought drums, he immediately tried some Slipknot songs and I implored him to start like this video and build from absolute zero.

Thank you!

I just love this video, it’s not « PLAY THIS EXERCISE TO BECOME AN UTRLA BASSIST » and it’s juste one stupid exercise that I’ve been playing for months. It’s so much more than an exercise, it’s how to use the exercise in an intelligent manner. Learning how to approach learning. Because very few people will teach you how to learn properly. Thanks josh you are awesome 🤘🏻
