Today I’m going to be sharing with you my top foods and supplements for overcoming high blood pressure. Blood pressure can be easily balanced out if you follow the steps in this video. High blood pressure is usually caused by excess sodium consumption, increased stress, or poor diet and exercise.

There are three specific nutrients you want to get in your diet if you have high blood pressure:
1. Potassium
2. Antioxidants
3. Omega-3 fatty acids
4. Bonus=Magnesium

Foods you want to avoid:

Recently was diagnosed with high BP. Was dizzy one day and went to the urgent care and my BP was 155/120. They immediately prescribed me meds to bring it down. While I'm happy to take them for now, in the long run I want to be off meds. I tend to believe that medications should be looked at as short term solutions that buy you time until you can find the natural solution that works for you. So I'm doing my homework now, figuring out what lifestyle changes I must make to get off the meds.

Thank you Dr. Axe. I took a magnesium pill yesterday before bed. I just purchased the other pills so was planning on taking them today. My bp was constantly 135 - 137 / 79 - 95. This morning with the magnesium alone my diastolic dropped 15 points and systolic 18 points. This morning my bp was 122/81. I couldn't figure this out because I eat right (pescatarian - salmon), regularly eat almonds and avocado as well as bananas and exercise everyday. But I must have been deficient of these nutrients. Thank you so much.

This is great advise. Finally a doctor recommending health and wellness before pulling out the old prescription book. Why hadn't my doctors recommended any of these things after telling me my blood pressure was high? Also, thank you for listing these in the description!

I joint a fitness club and started doing cardio/strength sessions 3 to 4 times a week and jogging in between. I ate regular whole foods in moderate amounts. As a result my body built muscle, loosed excess adipose and my blood pressure went to a healthy reading. Bingo!

I grew up with no medication of any type. 5 yrs ago I was put on blood pressure medication and was diagnosed as diabetic. My sugar was in the 220 level and BP was in 200-250 daily. I started coughing and took myself off the Blood pressure medication. My BP has been in 180/80 and my sugar is at 100. I’m doing the natural way of things. Thank You for the video

I had problems with my calves flexing and hurting at night. My doctor told me it was probably caused by a lack of Magnesium. I took a supplement of Magnesium and have had no more trouble at all!

Had normal BP all my life and was a very active, healthy guy. Over the past 8-9 months my blood pressure has been high around 140/80. My diet has never been great but it has always been consistent. My blood tests don't show a single lab out of place, and I exercise and train often. I am 25 years old, 6'1 and 215lbs. I do not know why my blood pressure has suddenly increased and has not been going down. My doctor wanted to put me on meds to lower it but I declined. Any tips from people with past experiences would be much appreciated as no one in my family has high blood pressure. Thank you.

I hate using pharmaceutical medications to treat my HBP. Lisinopril was terrible, I had a morning dry cough for 30 mins after waking. I’m now on Losartan & seeing a DO Dr. The worst part is the fatigue that I feel, doing menial tasks. Natural supplements is what I want to use, & this video covers that aspect. Thank you Dr. Axe. You are amazing and great. I understand flaxseed lowers blood pressure significantly too. Some use 2 tbsp/day - put it in unsweetened apple sauce or yogurt with berries or what you like. Just check the pros and cons first and/or consult with a professional.

Biggest and best way is a ketogenic diet. A diet that is 75% fat, 20% protein and 5% carbs (preferably from vegetables). I know this sounds counterintuitive to what we have been told, but a heavy amount of dietary fats is really good for blood pressure, as well as the entire body. Ever since I started eating this way my body has transformed into a health machine. My immune system seems to be performing better as I am hardly ever sick. I have more energy, my blood sugar levels are normal. And the best part is the food tastes incredible. Unfortunately most people don't have what it takes to make the drastic change of kicking out carbs, sugar and processed foods. Most people have a sugar addiction.
