The lesson learned here is this. If you have high bold pressure, DO NOT EAT ANYTHING. Maybe just a small glass of water everyday. But here is the thing. Grandma diagnosed with high blood pressure at age 55, numbers run between 150 to 180. She eats anything, loves Popeyes fried chicken. When she cooks, I can’t eat her cooking because it’s too salty. She’s turning 87 next year.

Hi Dr. Frita, I dropped my weight from 265 lbs to 235 lbs since July of last year. I underwent shoulder replacement surgery and began eating bagged salads and found my BP spiked in spite of being on Bystolic. When I read the sodium content of say a Cesar Salad, I was blown away by how much sodium it contained in the dressing/croutons. Then I was adding some chopped anchovies for taste. Needless to say, I’m done with that behavior. Thank you so very much for your videos. I have two grand babies whom I absolutely adore and would like to be around for them.

Dr. Frita. Thank you - I have been trying to tell my husband everything you have delivered in a nutshell. After seeing a cardiologist and he pointed out that cheese was his downfall. You have filled in the blanks. He loved it when you said one corn dog are you kidding yourself. You can't stop at two. We bought your book and believe it should be in every cardiologist's office. He is going to share his with a young friend who has high blood pressure. Now we just have to stop the cooking shows from telling everyone you have to salt every addition and layer as you cook. I make homemade pumpernickel bread and white bread and only use a quarter tsp of salt for 1 loaf. You have saved my husband from a massive stroke and perhaps even a widow maker. We love you and your common sense that seems to be lacking from most people today.

As an 82 yr old, I've never watched salt (always had low blood pressure) now a candidate for kidney disease, I must drastically change my diet. Thanks, Dr. Frita, you are so thorough.

Thanks Doc, I really needed this video. I have high blood pressure and I stopped drinking ( I drank in excess- rum & coke…probably a half gallon of rum and at least 12 cokes a week). Now I’m working on my diet. Actually everything in this podcast, I really needed this. I’m getting active and changing my diet. Sodium is everywhere, WOW. Doc I love you, thanks 😘

My blood pressure has actually improved since I've been cooking my own meats and eating a diet of 50% protein and 50% produce. Zero carbs. For 2 years in a row my doctor has complimented me on the markers on my lab work.

I retired 2 months ago. Eliminating the stress of the job, and eliminating the sugary snacks, caused my blood pressure to drop. Apple cider vinegar and green tea also helped.

Crazy. I pretty much do this. I’m 41, smoke a lil something something, and drink beer almost daily. My BP is on point, had it checked 8 days ago. She’s really speaking the truth.

Thank you for being informative about how to adjust your diet to help combat HBP. The first thing doctors nowadays run to is medicating you instead of suggesting a better meal plan/diet for starting the process of lowering your BP. Thank you for all you do 💛💛

Dr. Frida makes me laugh with her delivery, but she is soooo right! I cheated here and there with food last week and my blood pressure is still gradually coming down from being frighteningly high. I Learned I cannot mess around.

Oh-my-goodness! Dr. Frita thank you for making this video. You are doing 4 things here for: Reinforcing much of what I'm already avoiding and giving me more reason to stay focus. Reading the content, cooking more. I'm a little a Pescatarian finding more options. You are also causing me to miss my home grounds in Arkansas everytime you say " You know Goodden-well" I've only heard from southern people.
