Having family from across Ireland has helped voice coach Darren McStay to notice a variety of different accents there. In 'How to do a proper Irish accent (includes reviews)' he encourages you to be specific about which accent you want to achieve and goes on to use the North Dublin accent to demonstrate ways in which this can be done. Plottwist: He actually has a deep Irish (North Dublin) accent and has been explaining everything using his Essex accent

I find it hilarious that so many want to learn our accent 😂 I have often been frustrated when watching non Irish people trying to pull off our accent in movies and tv and getting it so wrong! I didn’t appreciate how difficult it is. You have done a great job 👏
We don’t pronounce the TH sound because there is none in our Gaeilge language and because we were forced to speak English by Britain we didn’t use the TH sound because it isn’t natural to our tongue

Thank you so much for a proper guide for this. I've always had a slight speech impediment that made people think that I was British. And because I'm proud of my Irish heritage, I try to morph my speech impediment into an Irish accent. The problem is that most "tutorials" mash all Irish accents into one accent that most Americans would recognize as being "Irish".

Watching hours upon hours of Irish YouTuber videos and Dungeons & Dragons have finally made me want to learn the accent. This was very well put-together. Thank you for this!

I was watching these exact YouTube videos referenced in the video and failing at the accent. The fact that this video totally bashes those other ones is hilarious!! Completely embodies my journey and actually gives me direction to practice. Thank you!

Grew up in Dublin all my life, really liked how you broke down this video, very interesting and the skits were great! Your north Dublin accents in your examples were fairly weak but a solid point for only being a few days into learning them!

Yes, this guy is brilliant and very methodical. it's funny, I just started trying an irish Accent like yesterday and he's picked apart all the first teachers I was listening to and taking copious notes. from, particularly Marianne. You just don't know what you don't know. I guess it's a matter of how authentic you need to be. if he's your audience your in trouble but 'm guessing you could fake it a bit most of the time.

Just so happens Dublin is exactly what I was going for, was trying to replicate Sean from rdr2 for a DnD character and thought first to look him up but then realized it made more sense to look up his VA, he's born and raised right in Dublin, great stuff you're making here man

This really made me laugh. I spent 6‘month in a bording school in Limerick with students from all parts of Ireland when I was 15 years old. I picked up some accent sounds and love them. Well done, great video

Thank you so much for this! My sister chose me as her wedding officiator. We’re traveling from Los Angeles California to Dublin for her wedding. I’m aiming to get the accent down within the next six months. Thank you again!

i know you made this while ago, but i just wanted to say how helpful it was!! i've been practicing on my own by just imitating north dublin creators, but the way you broke everything down into manageable parts was a life saver. (also your bits were hilarious) thank you!!

For a trainee ship i lived for half a year in Cork City. I picked up the local accent very fast even without noticing it by myself. When I came back to Germany to continue my studies, my English teacher was shocked and English speaking students asked me why I sound so "Irish". But as fast as I picked it up, as fast I lost it without Cork / Irish people around me. But at least on single word I still pronounce the Irish way even when drinking Scotch Whisky: Sláinte. ;-)

I've realized that most of the people just mix the Irish accent which made me more confused when learning. Thanks a lot sir for such a great video of step-by-step tutorial.
