Good demonstration, but in the form segment I couldn't ascertain what you meant by "folding forward, " in part because the camera didn't capture your body. Could you explain further?

Great stuff. I have a pretty major hip imbalance issue, tending to favor my right side which had caused a lot of issues with my knees. I've also got major (fl)abs, so I usually take a wider stance when coming up from the pushup. I've jacked my acl several times trying to keep a narrow stance due to my uneven hips and (fl)abs getting in the way of my knees

this burpee is a variation. crossfit style burpee i.e. jumping. the original burpee is no jumping and your body does not touch the ground. you plank and do an actual push up with strict form . the original burpee is the way convicts do burpees . good demo on this variation, but again your body is not supposed to hit the ground and you are suppose to do an actual push up. quality is better than quantity . if i was going to do the variation with the jump, i personally would do plank burpees meaning in starting push up position then pop back up and jump. too much momentum is used from bouncing off the ground. that's just me though. i am a stickler with this exercise. i see people doing so called burpees with form with fast times. guarantee if peole did actual original burpees with strict form meaning doing a push up with each one, i guarantee people would not get them done in 3 mins. or whatever time. i rather have form and quality reps with this exercise because you're only cheating yourself to become stronger to progress. i do original and plyo burpees (clapping push ups with jump squats meaning standing up first and then do a jump squat with form using strict form not jumping in the air using momentum). quality is better than quantity every time. 🤙🤙🤙🤙

This type of form is NOT a Burpee, It is an UP/DOWN as any ex-football player can attest to...A proper Burpee is done with a strict push-up instead of a bellyflop and should end with a vertical jump with hands raised. This type of burpee that is demonstrated is something that has grown in popularity due to CROSSFIT competitions. Try performing 10 reps with the strict push up and then compare how you feel and the muscles activated vs. the modified burpee...

Dr Jeff Godin of Massachusetts did some scientific experiments using volunteers wearing oxygen masks and doing this type of 'crossfit' burpee. He calculated that one burpee burns an average of 1 Calorie. The heavier you are the more calories you burn but it's not too much over 1 Calorie. The average is 1 Calorie per 'crossfit' burpee. Other types of burpees burn less than 1 Calorie but you can make up for that by doing extra reps.

I have always done them by going down into a squat then down to my arms in a push up position then a push up then back to squat then jump up.

just a quick question, I see that you're kicking your legs back before your shoulders hit the ground so your entire body weigh is on ur shoulders, does this not put unnecessary strain on your shoulders that can lead to injury? for example, I always thought that you squat, then place palms on the floor and then kick ur legs back into the plank position? thanks in advance
