Learn what to order at fast food restaurants when you are on the road or just for a quick meal.

Trying to stay keto while on vacation or travelling can be difficult. These are my favorite options to order when we eat fast food. Of course, some of these will be higher in carbs and not the cleanest options but when you are in a pinch it works.

Just because packaged food say’s “keto” doesn’t mean it is. Read ingredients.

My husband was once 436lbs and he's now at 190 and has been at that weight for several years now. He did it by going keto. We travelled for work when he started so we learned fast that you have to get creative. Go to the grocery store, buy pepperoni sticks, beef jerky, carrots.... stuff that doesn't really need a fridge. Then, if we went to fast food, we'd get a grilled chicken sandwich, no bun, extra lettuce, breakfast wraps can be quite low in carbs. The one mistake we made was salad. You would think salad would be healthy. It isn't, not at fast food. Its doable. You'll get some weird looks, but you can do it. April 2017 and its august 2023, he never looked back. Its not a diet, guys. Its a complete lifestyle change. Forever... but he gets just as excited about cauliflower as he used to get about a double cheeseburger from McDonald's. Your tastebuds change😊

While I focus on just eating low carb and healthy ( not keto per say) I still find it’s best to just pack as much as you can from home to stay healthy and then when I get to my destination I can find way better options with way better dining options!

I'm on day 5 keto and I'm feeling amazing. I did keto for a year two years ago and I cannot believe it took me this long to go back. I felt like crap for 2 years! I knew I wasn't doing well with my higher carb diet because it was like I never had enough coffee and I was exhausted all of the time. So glad I'm finally taking back control of my health and your channel has been amazing because life's kind of fast paced and sometimes I need quick fixes even though I love mostly a clean keto life. Thank you

Jersey Mikes - any sub in a tub, Jimmy Johns - any sandwich in a lettuce wrap, Wendy's Baconator Jr. no bun, Moe's Southwest Homewrecker in a bowl - a few of my go to items when on the road.

When I’m out and want a quick lunch, I’ll go to Walmart for a a couple of hard boiled eggs and a package of smoked salmon. Or a rotisserie chicken that will provide 2 meals. Or a large Fage yogurt, 240 calories and very filling. Not as convenient as a drive through, but more options.

While traveling, I buy the double roast beef at Arbys, no bun, then use Carb Counter tortillas. While traveling I bring a 4 inch silicone bowl, put in some ham pieces, some shredded cheese, stir in 2 eggs, microwave 3 minutes, looks like a muffin but it is a ham & cheese omelette. I also preheat a thermos + 2 eggs with hot tap water, empty water then replace with boiling water, hard boiled eggs in 1 hour. I also have a 6 inch silicone cake mold, put a 1/2 pound hamburger patty in silicone bowl, microwave 4 minutes, turn over and microwave one minute, cooked hamburger.

I know Subway is test marketing a low carb bread they call Hero. I hope it's offered soon! Only one carb for the entire thing!

Wendy’s burgers over McDonalds and go to ALDIs for the low carb Keto buns and bread (contains gluten, but inexpensive and tasty). Chick fil A also will do grilled chicken tenderloin and have salads. Chipotle all day long! Unwiches from J Johns!

Ingredients are super important, not just carb counts. Majority have sugar, that sugar starts my craving cycle 😢, not to mention all the horrible vegetable oils. Having homemade food prepared in advance keeps me on-track, no cravings, no stalls, etc…

"SOLA" has excellent buns/bread that does not spike glucose in most people, & we often find it in the freezer section. It's one of the only bread items I've ever bought that keeps super well in the freezer~ just take out what you need, & it's fresh & perfect every time. Love this brand! (*Orange wrapper, FYI)

When ordering a bunless burger ask if they can substitute extra lettuce, pickles and tomatoes for the bun. They'll often pile it on.

Good info. I’ve been doing keto for over 7 years now and eating out is such a challenge I really don’t enjoy it anymore. Even if I can keep the carbs low I still worry about dodging vegetable oils. I noticed at 5 Guys for example that they use some type of oil on the griddle to cook their burgers. They also deep fry the bacon. I’d rather go to a Whole Foods and get some hard boiled eggs, sardines, cheese and veggies like bell peppers, broccoli, celery. I know… I’m weird.

For the last year I fast on travel days either on the road or in the air. It saves time and the difficulty of finding something good to eat. Since I’m in ketosis I dont feel hungry and I’m satisfied with coffee and electrolyte water.

Muchas Gracias is my go to Mexican food restaurant. (may not be in all states) I get the Burritos: Carnitas, Adobada, Chx or Steak fajita, Machaca breakfast. They don't have rice or beans in them and they're loaded! To go, and swap out the tortilla when I get home!

Jimmy John's has a unwhich it's delicious any of their sandwiches on a lettuce wrap. Their quality is great.

Wendy’s is good low carb place. Will make bun less burgers. Plus Southwest avocado salad is great. Even entire dressing packet is 4 carbs. Use olive oil in dressing. You can substitute spicy chicken for roast but will add 30+ carbs. Sorry frosty is off limits
