Amen. The gift is the method provided.

I could boast of putting my faith in Christ (I did it) but not that he saved me by His grace through faith (He did it).

I am a child off god i have great respect for john MacArthur who is a calvinist but there have been times ive felt confused they say only the elect will be saved when john 3.16 says for god so loved the world i believe jesus came to seek and save sinners thank you for this its a blessing thank you

Calvinist are not wrong about this. We just believe exactly what the scripture says. If btw its not your own doing then who's is it ? If it's God's doing then the cavinist interpretation is absolutely correct. This is very simple why are you fighting it? Believe the scripture

The non Calvinist video creator still credits something in himself for being gifted the salvation, his belief. Philippians 1:29 says the belief is given by God.

The answer is found in Romans 5:8-18

(Or John 3:16 if you want a quick summary)

I entertained a debate on these verses for 6 weeks. I called 3 Greek profs and 1 WyCliffe Greek expert. 3 of the 4 said grammatically these verses cannot be used as a proof text. 1 said he wished to remain neutral. This deeply frustrated my debate partner.

How do they allow themselves to distort the meaning of this verse??? It could only be interpreted one way!! Thanks Jordan!

Calvinists theologians have made Calvinism unfalsifiable and, therefore, unable to be tested to see if it is of God:

2 types of God's will:
Will of Decree vs Permissive Will

2 types of God's love:
General Love vs. Salvific Love

2 types of God's grace:
General Grace vs. Irresistible Grace

2 types of God's calling:
General Call vs. Effectual Call

2 types of faith in God:
Non-salvific Faith vs. Salvific Faith

2 types of death & resurrection:
Non-atoning sacrifice for the Reprobate vs. Atoning sacrifice for the elect.

2 types of divine life:
Regenerational life before faith vs. Eternal life after faith.

Their implications generate a false god who commands obedience, but has SECRETELY decreed DISOBEDIENCE, for the GOOD PLEASURE of His Will to glorify Himself.

Also look at the grammar… for by grace you have been saved through grace… that is the one complete thought or “this” would be “these”

So it is your faith now that you use to receive salvation? Where does your faith come?

Well the Greek says otherwise lol. The faith is included in what Paul is referring to, saying that salvation and the faith is a gift. Praise God for His sovereignty in salvation!!

Saving faith is indeed a gift of God. No need for all the gymnastics.

Couldn't it be that all are invited and welcome, but certain people are specifically chosen?

The words this and gift are in the nominative case in the Greek.

That means it refers back to the subject and the antecedent. The subject is save of which are attached the dative and generative case nouns which are the words, grace and faith.
the antecedent of what the “this” is referring back to

The second half of the sentence refers back to the antecedent which is this….

By grace you have been saved through faith

The gift is all of it. Gift is the Greek word doron. That means a sacrifice.

The sacrifice of Christ was for all of that.

If you’re going to say what you think is grammatically, correct then learn the language it was written in.

I mean, even in English you should know what an antecedent is

You can debate it but he is wrongs according to Greek grammar the nearest antecedent is Faith so faith would be the gift referenced. Grammar is only part of it as context and cross referencing also matters but to say grammatically his point is correct is just not true according to basic Greek grammar.

Contextually and grammatically you are wrong. Paul includes grace, saved, and Faith, using a neuter form of "this" (or "that not of yourselves") to incorporate all three.

Who is he to call Paul’s writings redundant absurdity the Bible inspired by the Holy Spirit and he can repeat himself as much as he wants. Sometimes things are mentioned once and sometimes many times. We are not told why?

Salvation is not the adjacent noun closest to "and this." You know what is? Faith.

It the same thing. You work so hard to not believe what is revealed. Praying for you
