Note: vs 9 "and be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ--the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith".

Through Jesus we will do good works. It just naturally happens. But yea it’s not about what you do. It’s what who you believe in.

The question is, imagine a situation where you believe and your neighbor for instance doesn’t believe. You chose to believe by YOUR free will, then what separates you from the neighbor isn’t efficacious grace but YOUR decision. Think about that for a moment

The bible is a whole. Scripture interprets scripture. Faith is a gift. Not something you have done. Otherwise you could have something to boast.

Faith whilst still in ones flesh (unregenerate state) is a "good" work of Self and you can boast.

The imputed faith of Jesus Christ is a gift of Gods grace working in you (regeneration), therefore impossible to boast.

That is why 99% of the 220, 000, 000 pews sitters in America do not have the FAITH OF CHRIST working in them as their fruit bears witness.
