all that work fetching water at the manual water pump with a bucket in the Philippines gave me a strong core

Doing Farmer's Walk for core isn't the purpose, it's upper back and grip. Suitcase carry is for core.

The suitcase carry actually improved my posture in a short period of time. I recommend it for anyone who plays video games or even looks at their phone.

One of the best thing about growing up on a farm as a kid is getting strong as fuck from carrying 5 gallon buckets of water and feed.

Yes, but you can also offset the weight, carry more in one arm and less in the other, i.e. 60 lbs in your right and 40 lbs in your left, this will create a very similar instability for your body to fight and still allow a greater load (assuming you are seeking to increase your loading capacity, looking at you bodybuilders, strongmen)

Carries fixed my Achilles injury! I was a year and a half in, my doctors told me the reason I wasn’t in good condition still is because I didn’t follow their plan (I did more than their plan, I did so many heel raises I got bone bruises in my toes for 3 weeks) I could squat, deadlift, but I still had no explosion in running and had problems balancing while carrying loaded laundry baskets. 6 weeks of moving my leg/core day to primarily Carrie’s completely fixed it. I make sure to do mixed set of farmer carries and suitcase carries at least once every 3 days.

I’m going to try both farmers walk and suitcase carry today.

That's great and all but most people probably aren't doing unilateral deadlifts, c&j, squat... farmer's walk is far better at providing a good approximation and as an auxiliary movement. Like a really strict triceps kickback or press down might actually fry your triceps more, but you'll never add to your bench, whereas a close grip bench would. Of course one sided carries should be in everyone's routine at least occasionally, but just for your core and stabilisation. For truly contributing to your overall strength and stability, you are ultimately loading with less weight, less stress on CNS. And, because you are working in a way that isnt so close to a final competition or compound movement, it can only ever be a useful compliment, but won't force your body to work everything in concert as the 'full package'. It is harder, but isolated dumbbell work often is, but those hard dumbbell workouts alone don't make elite athletes. I think you know all this but your video doesn't make any distinction of when to use this or how to 'think' of it as part of a specific training program. Its just "did you know that this is actually harder??" which might cause people to abandon farmer's walks, to the detriment of their long term goals.

Been suitcase carrying about a 50lb sandbag on my fun sandbag day workouts. BUT adding just a 10lb kettlebell to my 1.5 mile walks with my 35lb weighted vest... whole 'nother level of core work and grip strength...

I have Done this workout for years without knowing what I do. And I only do it on the right side. And when I do know about it, I already had a weird muscle distribution growth

Kettlebell stuff is all magical, in my totally unscientific experience👍

You can also do it with two kettlebells, one heavier, one lighter.

There was a period of a couple of years when I would do a 2 mile walk with a 45 pound kettlebell every day. The only rules were that I couldn't stop to rest, but I allowed myself to switch arms whenever I needed to. At the 1 mile mark, I was wishing I could stop. In the last quarter mile I would be literally growling to get to the finish line. I don't know how much it did for my core, but my traps really grew during that time.

One thing that i wasnt do8ng.was trying to engage my lats while i carry the weight .

If you dont use your lats your core dosen t really fully engage

one arm carries are great! I like a 45 pound plate. Really don't have to walk, just stand there if gym is crowded and isometric hold it for a time. I feel it strongly on the other side and lower back on other side.

Just two years ago, I read that carries dont don’t do anything. This shit changes so rapidly, like any other health trend.
