Thanks for watching! Have you seen any of the signs of narcissism in the workplace?

Weird that they are sensitive to criticism but yet they criticize everyone around them.

I've been in the workplace for 30+ years and the only way I've learned to deal with them is not take it personal, be very boring and too busy for them, do not engage, act invisible... Long enough until they quit or get fired. I found I've been able to stick it out longer than any of them. Eventually they go into a rage or everyone gets sick of them. Typically HR does nothing, don't even bother unless you're reporting illegal activity or recorded threats.

So true Christina they love pushing our buttons, turning people against us, then playing victim after being called out for their bullying .

I would add a few things - not all narcissists are extremely charming. Some can put on the mask but that mask may actually slip much easier than expected. I've also worked with narcissists that are also high performers, which is why they are often tolerated in workspaces. They are just often shoving their co-workers out of the way to get ahead.

I’ve been in both situations. My personal opinion is that if there’s anything worse than working with a narcissist, it’s working for one.

One of the trickiest things about some narcissistic people or coworkers is that they will nicely do things, meaning that they won't yell but they're good at being like a secret narcissist. It's like one person can see that but others around the workplace, find them sweet and always hanging around them. It's very uncomfortable being in that environment.

This video was SO validating! I just had to fire a narcissistic employee who was constantly trying to tear me down in front of everyone (I was his direct supervisor and he wanted my position of “power”). He was using his charm to get on key people’s good side and constantly bragged about how amazing his own work was and how awful everyone else was and how he was advancing our goals in spite of me (and everyone else in
If I came up with an idea he always had reasons why it was “ridiculous” and his ideas were better. Always. There was yelling, insulting, etc. the only reason I tolerated him was because he was doing his job reasonably well. But a workplace isn’t only about tasks. It’s also about people. Gotta flush out toxicity!

I have experienced a narcissistic boss and also narcissistic work colleges. Narcissistic boss that only recognises that your doing a good job by giving you more work 😡. A narcissistic work college that criticises your idea ! Then steals it 😡

I've had narcissist bosses. They tried to put it in my head that there isn't a better job for me out there. As if working for them is the greatest thing ever in spite of the evidence to the contrary. I wouldn't go back to them if it were a six figure salary with full benefits. it's where the expression "Take this job and shove it" applies.

The main goal is power over you, the way you think the way you feel and how you are seen by other colleagues

The higher you get to the top in a organization, the higher the narcistic, sneaky and manipulating behavior.

I cannot believe you just described my former team, it was so dysfunctional that once one person said: HR should burn this team and build it again. However, HR couldn’t care less and even though they were aware of the existence of a narcissistic head and managers under him they kept saving him in many situations. I was the scapegoat there and ended up leaving the team. I wish I knew more about this at the time.

Yes! It's tough to deal with. They are always trying to make you look a fool and they look rosie. I've had to deal with both boss and coworker toxicity.

I was the scapegoat at my last workplace. I quit and have just started a new job but now I see my manager's position being posted so I'm afraid it will be filled by a narc. That is EXACTLY what happened in my last 2 jobs. I was happy, management changed and I was assigned a narc, who felt I was a threat because I work hard, so they scapegoated me. So tired of

This is why I hate the workplace and it's just stepping stone to save as much money as I can. I am taking steps to own my businesses which if very feasible in this day and age as a millennial. They have plans to retire, I have plans to quit
