9 Signs Someone is a Narcissist

June 1 is World Narcissistic Abuse awareness day. Unlike physical abuse, narcissistic abuse leaves emotional and psychological scars. Do you suspect that someone might be a narcissist? Perhaps, a narcissistic friend, narcissistic boyfriend or girlfriend, or even a narcissistic parent. If you suspect that you yourself or someone you know might be narcissist, here are some signs to watch out for.

The vision of psych2go is to bring awareness to our own behaviour and behaviours of others so that we can all grow together. If you suspect that you might be a narcissist or someone close to you is, you can use the insights from these videos to help them or yourself.

Also as a disclaimer: A narcissist is not the same as someone diagnosed with Narcissistic personality disorder. Someone with NPD would have to be officially diagnosed by a professional whereas a narcissist is more a layperson term for someone who shows the behaviour and tendency of someone who may or may not suffer from NPD. Also, do not use this video to completely diagnose yourself or others. Use it for insights only.

the worst narcissist isn’t the one who calls themselves perfect or things like this but the one that play the victim

The person that comes to your mind while you're looking at this video is definitely one

“Don't wrestle with pigs. You both get dirty and the pig likes it.”
When it comes to narcissists, this is the only advice you need to follow.

The worst part about a narcissist is that their behavior seems perfectly acceptable to them and see no problem with it whatsoever. It has become so deeply embedded into their personality that one could say it is almost subconscious.

Oh wow it's up hooray! I've seen people wondering who the artist, well here I am. My name is Hattey, I've been an aspiring artist since i was 3 years old. I've always wanted to be a part of Psych2go so this year I finally had the courage to join their team. It's been a long ride of fun and insightful learning curve. From being an avid fan of this platform, I don't have enough words to even begin to extend my gratitude for being part of this awesome creative expression. Collaborating with awe inspiring people who tackle topics that are close to my heart in the most colorful way, what an honor.

And the character in this video as the Narcissist, her name is Christina Hemmingway AKA Facade. She's a character of mine that I have developed, and fits the video perfectly cause she's the very self-absorbed type of gal, even when sometimes she doesn't mean to be. The whole concept about Narcissism is more than just being too self-centered and inconsiderate towards others, it all roots down to the lack of self-worth they have. I think at some point we can all relate to this feeling. Anyway I hope you enjoy the video!!

2. They tend to cheat in relationships
3. They constantly need to be admired
4. They do not take any criticism well
5. They exploit others without guilt or shame
6. They belittle others
7. They see themselves more attractive than they really are

For anyone who is with a narcissist and is still in the thinking stage about leaving, just leave. I’ve tried to be the person in point 9, but after 4 hard years, not only have I failed to live up to another persons arbitrary perception of perfection, I’ve lost myself in the process.

Always value the love you have for yourself more than the love of others. No matter how much you might love them.

That "They gaslight you" really hit. I always knew I had some very specific memory of an event, but then my mother came along and said that it didn´t happen that way. Over and over again. Fortunately I am a bit narcissistic myself and not stupid, so I recorded conversations etc. and proceeded to call her out for her bullshit, I have never seen someone this mad before. She always tells my father different stories from what actually happened, but again, recordings helped proving my point and discredited her to the point no one sides with her anymore if there is any doubt. She can´t accept having any faults or ever being wrong, it made me hate her so much.

You know you’ve dealt with narcissists when it gets to the point you question yourself for being one 🤦🏻‍♀️

Narcissists make you feel like you are the crazy one, and you aren’t. They are incredibly critical of other people but if you try to criticize them they only double down on trying to make you feel bad. They are master manipulators and often very convincing because many times they believe their own lies. It’s a very challenging personality disorder to deal with, and it can make you start questioning yourself and reality. Sending out much love to this amazing community! ♥️

Gaslighting is definitely one most common tactic from narcissists. I have very good memory and I can directly tell that someone is gaslighting me by lying to my face to save their poor self-esteem.

You forgot to add #10: They accuse others of being a narcissist and paint themselves the person of perfect mental health.

They should’ve talked about the covert narcissist who act like they’re not good enough, vulnerable, and shy and not confident. They will hurt you the most bc you won’t see it coming

There's a thin line between loving yourself and being a narcissist.

Many people have crossed that line without even knowing.

The problem with "social media" is that they tend to promote narcissists.

Narcissistic sound like the worse case of “not dealing with inner insecurities and walk around project, dismiss others, and other issues.” to make themselves look okay but i REALLY believe they can’t help it, this is interesting

My uncle is a narcissistic, he always plays the victim even though he was the one that wronged people, he gaslighted people, only did 'acts of kindness' so he could get something in return. I may be a narcissist but I can't imagine being that bad.
