I broke my femur over a year ago. I was 68 at the time. With surgery (titanium rod inserted into the bone) and acute rehab, outpatient rehab, and doing rehab and exercise on my own I am now walking limp free and doing Zumba classes again. I am grateful to the surgeon, the physical therapists, and my stubborn determination. So if you find yourself in this unfortunate situation don't give up or give in. Find good quality therapy and keep working at it. You can make it through and move forward. Be patient, work hard, and have hope. One step at a time.

I was a little over a month from being discharged from the U.S. Navy. I fractured my femur on January 25, had surgery that night(Rod put inside bone), next day (Sunday) on bed rest. Monday started OT and PT, Friday practiced getting up and down stairs before being discharged from hospital with a walker and crutches. That Saturday discovered I could stand straight bearing weight. Went to church that following Sunday, everyone was amazed that I was up and walking( Using Walker) after one week. I'm here because I want my leg to get stronger. I want to push myself, so that I can meet my goals after leaving the U.S NAVY. I know I'm in God's hands. I thank him every day that it wasn't worse and for all the blessings that come out of this. Praise God. ❤

I broke my femur 4 months ago, it was a clean fracture in the middle. If you work hard you can recover fast! I'm snowboarding now just 4 months after surgery

I broke my femur by spiral fracture in a snow tubing accident in february (it is now May) by hitting a patch of ice and going foot first into a wall of ice and twisting it when i flipped. After 3 months, a good surgeon and physiotherapist, and the determination to keep fighting I have majority of my leg back. My limp is 90% gone and bending low to pick stuff up is still a little difficult, I have just ditched using a cane as a walking assistant, but I can safely say I see myself 100% recovered in no time. To anyone reading this in a similar situation, it is difficult at first as the pain makes it feel like the recovery will take forever, but keep fighting to get better and I promise you will so much faster than you could have ever anticipated. I never thought that by May i’d be mostly back to normal, but I proved myself wrong and you can too.

Had broken femur bcoz of domestic violence brought up with my abusive ex. Successful Ortho Implant Major Surgery gave me chance to be able to walk again and have my life back to normal after that tragic incident. So blessed i'm still alive and fully recovered. This exercises are such a great help. Thank you for sharing.🙏🙏

I got into a car accident that should have killed me on august 21st and broke my femur in 3 different places, got immediate surgery that same night 6 hours later and was in the trauma unit for 5 days until I got discharged home, after 4 weeks before my first check up I was able to weight-bear around 25% and now going on 6 weeks I have been able to take small tiny steps on my own and plan on getting back to walking normal within the next 4 weeks ! No PT because I’m not insured and have been doing everything on my own, luckily I have been a registered nutritionists, nutrition coach and personal trainer for 6 years so my experience can help expedite the process, no matter what you can’t give up hope, one day everyday who has been going through this same experience will walk again !

Thanks Tayor posting your process of healing and getting back stronger than before injury. I have watched this more than dozen times, taking notes what kind of exercises you did. You started week 3 aquatic exercises. I asked my doctor he said wait till next x-ray. So i am so anxious to start.
I am a bit jealous you had a tremendous team worked with you. I had a freak accident during skiing on January 10 2018. Had a ORIF fracture femur. I have a plate and 10 screws to stabilize during bone healing. Its been almost one month. I will be taking x-ray on 27th February see orthopedic doctor, see how my bone is healing. Absolutely non bearing weight till then. I cant wait to get stronger and being outdoor, which i love. Hiking, skiing, trail running, table tennis...anyone who has advise, please let me know.

I’m 75. 3/1/21 I had a total knee replacement of left knee. It took 9 months of PT, agonizing pain, hydrotherapy, hypnotherapy, massage, acupuncture & a nerve block to get to 90 degrees of bend. I was finally walking normally, although much pain on stairs by mid May 2022. Then 5/31/22 I tripped on a mat near the front desk of the indoor pool. I’d gone there instead of the gym to exercise the knee. I fractured the femoral neck of the same leg. It took almost an hour to be talked into the 3 screw surgery. I was told I have PTSD from the knee ordeal. Well, it’s 6 weeks. The incision is still swollen (the knee gave me problems due to massive swelling) and tender, but what’s really awful is the knee is very painful 24/7 and not bending to 90 degrees unless I endure more pain. A different surgeon did my femur and he’s helping me more than the knee guy ever did. I think a kind surgeon who explains, listens, and has a great office has made a difference. I still sometimes bitch about the bad luck. I went into surgery hoping I’d not wake up, honestly. I just lost a 23 yr old grandson unexpectedly six months ago. I cannot understand how I’m here but he is not. I have little support and have had to manage stairs alone with one crutch. Had at home PT but start going out to a facility Monday. I’m beyond worried my leg will never be ok. If it’s like the knee, I just don’t know……………

I had surgery 2 weeks ago to remove piece of my femur due to mechanism being off in my leg making my knee dislocate (it’s dislocated over 100x), re-attached with 3 metal plates and a cleaned up knee groove / meniscus. I’m not quite ready for this video yet however I’m so exited to try once I feel better as a goal :) very smart with those elevated bridges. Thanks Shane!

I had an IT fracture in Nov 2021. It took surgery to insert an IM rod inside my body. The night of the surgery was painful and I was really scared about the foot alignment but it was done very well. Later I found out that people walk with a limp when they recover from this so I was scared once again and so I did vigorous physical exercises by myself. I did the best I could. And soon left the walker to walk freely.

I broke my femur more than a month ago due to an accident.. had to undergo intramedullary nailing a week after the accident (it was a close wound). Still can't bend my knee, but I'm feeling better everyday. I hope I can walk again within 6 months of rehab.

I had introtrochantric fracture in femur 6 months ago, I started walking from just a week ago without any kind of support. 2 observations I want to clarify from all who have been thru this.
1. As I just started walking without support I am limping is this common n will it fade off
2. I am able to bend my knee to 90%, the remaining 10% is difficult to bend while I bend complete I get knee pain is this common n will this fade off as well.

Ur feedback will make me confident n give me the courage to make another step forward 🙏
