Losing weight is simple: establish a caloric deficit enough to lose between 0, 5 - 1, 5% of your body weight per week.
You can't sustain this caloric deficit for too long or your body will adjust what it spends, so after 8 weeks take one or two weeks off (both heavy exercises and the diet). Than you start again.
To do this you're probably need a nutritionist and a personal trainer, although if you have time you can study and develop your own diet and exercise plan.
It's gonna take time, but you can't lose weight fast in a sustainable way. It has to be as slower as you can. Remember it's not a sprint, it's like a marathon: the most important thing is to archive your goal of losing weight permanently.
That's the summarized version, some youtubers like jeff nippard have really good content, based on what we have more advanced in this science.

This is so true, I only started loosing weight when I changed my mindset, and realized the drive and motivation to keep going and not give up. Choose your drive, your mindset, be positive, and everything else will follow.

Dr. Mandell, I think it's great for you to tell it like it is about being overweight. So many people now just accept it and start to believe it is normal, even promote it as being more attractive and just as healthy as being thin or normal weight. Some people actually get picked on for being thin. You hear that sometimes about celebrities. One of my daughters ran into this situation and gained a few lbs. thinking that would help. But then she started having issues with "love handles" and belly fat. So she decided to go back to the way she was, which is thin. But she never wears pants anymore because people notice her slimness more. I noticed that after my sister lost a lot of weight she always wore looser clothing so people wouldn't notice and say something. I can see why. It's different than it used to be when a person got compliments for losing weight and being slim.
