In this video I’m going to show you 4 of the most effective stretching and strengthening exercises to alleviate lateral hip pain.

WHAT IS THE PAIN ON MY LATERAL HIP?

In most instances, pain in this area is caused by a condition known as “hip bursitis”. A “bursa” is a small, fluid-filled sack that adds lubrication and decreases friction in the muscles that control the hip; the suffix “itis” on the end means inflammation.

The second most-common cause would be a tendonitis in one of the tendons that acts on the hip in this area.

HOW TO TREAT LATERAL HIP PAIN

In the case of both bursitis and tendonitis - this inflammation is most often caused by tightness in the structures and and weakness in the muscles surrounding your hip. The best way to treat those deficiencies is with the right stretches and exercises to relieve tension and increase strength.

Found your channel today, THANK GOD!!! I am a 100+ mile a month Runner & have suffered right hip discomfort for a while now mostly when resting or inactive it stiffens up causing me to limp until it becomes mobile again! Today I did the stretches and the exercises, followed by another session of stretches. This is the first time in 3 weeks that I have some hope of pain relief. I've been trying every cream, pill, etc. to relieve the pain. This seems to have worked the best. I'll post again in a week or so. The stretch that seemed to do the most for me was the last one of the four. Thanks for your videos. I'm 68 and active. This gives me some hope to remain active.

Wow. I am 64 and have been suffering from hip pain for two weeks from carrying my grandson on my right hip. Just did you stretches and they helped a lot. Pain isn't completely gone yet but greatly diminished. I will keep it up. Thank you. Did not want to have to go to Physical Therapy and spend time and money.

I was in pain about a year and a half. Got instant relief after this streching. It really helps relief the pain. I couldnt sit without pain in my but. Now pain is gone. I am surprised.

You are my hero… over the last few weeks my hips have been bothering me after sitting. It would eventually work itself out but as soon as I sat, when I got up to stand the pain came back.

Going for a walk, my hips would start hurting… I haven’t gone for a walk so not sure how it will effect that, but I’ll let you know.

So last night I found your video and did the entire work out… SHOCKING… even after that one time, just one time, my hips felt amazingly better… I wasn’t feeling pain when I stood up. SO HAPPY I found your video. I am a 72 yr old woman who has been reasonably 😢active all my life although a moderated regime since having CFS for the last 28vyrs. I crashed badly with CFS 4 yrs ago which meant no exercise. and just this last six months I have began a slow increase but found My side hips are too painful when walking or doing yoga. So I just did your stretching and strengthening routine. I am very hopeful as they seem to be really good exercises.
