I am keto/carnivore. And recently the past two meals suffered a bit of bloat and even unexplained fatigue. I could NOT understand why. the only thing that changed? I bought some mussels on sale, different than my usual brand. And when i looked at the label I was UPSET! the mussels I usually get are packed in olive oil. But the sale mussels. Packed in soybean oil. I already avoid those type of oils because they are so unhealthy but had no idea my body would react this way.lesson learned. Pay attention to LABELS. Threw those mussels out.

Hi Dr Becky! I follow all your videos and I have huge admiration for all what you do. I have been following a low carb diet since November and I did manage to lose 10 kg. However I feel stuck now...nothing happens om the scale anymore and that demotivate me very much. Someone told me to start adding more carbs to maybe restart the organism. I did start to eat like once a week bread wich I have really missed it. Now I am 2 kg extra. I feel very down...and nothing motivates me anymore. The ting is that I have realized that I will never be able to enjoy foods I have used to without being terrified that I will gain weight.

Great takeaways, DB! I LOVE broccoli. Raw and steamed. I do feel sorta bloated after I eat it. From now on, I'll try to steer clear of raw and more fully steam. Keeping me in the know. Love.

Please share your thoughts on pickled eggs and buttermilk. Of all the foods I've seen discussed pro and con, I seen not any comments on these two. Since buttermilk is fermented which I understand reduces lactose and pickled eggs are protein and vinegar, it would seem both would be ok to consume and possibly even beneficial. Thanks.

You find so many different things to give in depth information about. It certainly makes fasting easier when I understand what is happening to my body. Do you have any information on how well we can think or learn during a fast? I am studying for a Masters degree in Math. Ideally, I want to work in the morning but sometimes I find I’m too hungry to think. I would love to know what science is behind it and perhaps how to combat brain fog without resorting to eating.

I can attest to bloating from apples. I've had to cut my apple consumption down to one a week

What about Erythritol?? I was under the impression that it was a good keto sweetener, but now I'm wondering if it is also something I shouldn't be using. Thank you for the great videos you provide.

Thank You Becky- things just fell into place now! I am a GP and a clinical pharmacologist. I have given advice on fodmaps for years, and have been on keto/low carb for 9 months. However given dietary advice on keto and FODMAP in combination is not that easy.. (in addition I am not allowed to give dietary advice on keto according to law in Sweden, at least according to my interpretation- the diet has to be scientifically proven or accepted by scientific community). My experience is that now that I eat keto, it is easier to tolerate FODMAPs like cauliflower, and even lactose. I rotate cauliflower with butternut squash/sweet potato/asparagus/point cabbage/green lettuce eg spinache - and then my stomach is calm despite the FODMAP content. Other suggestions to replace carbs for us FODMAP/ketogenic people?

18 months LCHF and lost 50 lbs. In the last 2 weeks I’ve gained 6 lbs - and just yesterday I finished box # 3 of a keto snack bar that, while delicious, is sweetened with maltitol. Now I think I know what’s going on, back to cheese and sour cream for my snacks. Thanks, Dr. Becky.
