I hope people aren't lowering carbs without increasing good saturated fats. There's literally no mention of these fats here but they are the preferred fuel source for the body. Yes they contain more calories but as you don't get hungry very much, you may only need to eat once or twice a day meaning you eat less overall and intermittent fasting becomes easier and has massive benefits in itself. Too much protien also elicits higher insulin responses whereas fats elicit almost none so high fat, moderate protein and low carb is best for controlling insulin levels and fats are needed as a fuel source.

Excellent! Thank you for the recognition of low carb for diabetes control. SIGN guidelines state 50g or less of carbs for diabetes management. I'm 3 years low carb and so much healthier. My go-to fast-food low carb meal is simply an omelette.

Low carb definitely helps with diabetes! I don’t understand though why you say it helps with weight but then basically say it only helps with water weight... then it slows down? I personally lost 10 st on low carb

When you say that 50g - 130g is low carb diet, are you referring to starchy carbs such as sugar, white flour, potatoes, grains etc or does this include vegetables and fruit? I am pre diabetic and have been advised to keep the starchy carbs to 100g but can eat as many veg as I want on top of this? I tend to limit the starchy 'empty' carbs, always choosing wholegrain options but eat a lot of veg. Am I wrong? I cannot keep carbs so low with all the veg I eat as my total daily intake averages 175 - 200.
