I've been using the same Macbook Pro for almost 10 years and still using the original battery. Probably time for a new one.

I got extremely lucky buying a cheap retina that probably had its top case replaced recently, as i got it with 20 charge cycles, and its from 2013. At 36 by the time of writing this, going strong!

What I noticed is that for my Macbook 2019, the fan won’t spin up to cool down the computer unless it gets really hot to prevent processor over-heating. But by doing so, the battery always operates at temperatures above 35C, the upper operational limit suggested by apple, hence damaging the battery. The battery now only holds 80% of its original capacity after 18 months with 234 cycles. It degraded much faster compared to Apple's claim of 80% capacity after 500 cycles

Experiencing this issue right now. Good timing. Also, I was scared about the overheating, now I'm a little more at ease. I'll just have to change the battery and see....

On a 2012 macbook pro or earlier, if you can no longer click left or right on the trackpad then it might be early signs of your battery starting to bloat. If left unnoticed the battery will bloat further causing the body of the macbook to deform.

Well, I have experienced 2, 3 & 4 😞 Actually, my MacBook is currently at the technician waiting to get it’s battery replaced.
Side note, I bought it as a refurbished from Apple, and even though it is in excellent conditions externally, they don’t replace the battery (if it’s not necessary ofc) so keep that in mind when buying one at the refurb store. 🙌🏻

Now I'm worried, I didn't even know I had a MackBook.

Well here it is: replacing the battery for ma MBA mid 2012 solved the autonomy problem. Instead of running an hour or so now I can comfortably use my good old laptop for at least 4-5 hours. Of course I'm not talking about 5 hours of gaming :)

NOTE: extremely easy replacement. Took me 5 minutes. You only need to deal with a few screws.

Only a matter of time before Apple is going to solder on the battery...

When apple tells you that it's a faulty PCB with a repair nearly $1000 bill or you could but a new MacBook for just $1400. Isn't that an amazing deal !!!!

When you get a service recommended icon chances are there will be no issue with your battery but a bug that shows your Mac book's battery is "service recommended". I've had this problem one years ago and it gone completely after few days and I never have it again till now.Don't try to replace it immediately but actually reboot your Mac to see if its still on service recommended.
