Isolation vs Compound exercise.
If your main goal is to just build your glutes and not your legs then isolate your glutes.
However, here’s the thing. You need to strengthen your legs, or the whole lower body to be able to progress with isolation work for your glutes. You basically need leg strength to progress with those isolation work.

In summary: if your main goal is to grow your glutes, you need a strength based lower body workout and hypertrophy focused workout for your glutes only.

So add at least 1-2 compound exercises for strength and 3-4 isolation workouts just for your glutes.
