God predetermined that I would never want to be a Calvinist.

I am thankful to God that I believe. Whether God elected me beforehand to believe or not, is something I don't have to understand. I am just thankful that I accepted Jesus as my Savior.

I'm just glad God saved a wretch like me 🤗. All glory and honor to Him 🙇‍♂️.

Based on his argument, we must thank Abraham for the entirety of the Bible, for if he had made another choice, God would be powerless to stop him.

Men may believe like him in daylight, but they pray like Calvinists:

“Lord, please save my friends and family.”

totally agree with the authority thing. calvinists and other christians don't disagree about whether God is sovereign. they disagree about how He sovereignly chose/choses to exercise that sovereignty.

As soon as I hear anyone talk about "fairness" concerning God my guard immediately goes up. In Romans 9:21 "Does not the potter have power over the clay, from the same lump to make one vessel for honor and another for dishonor", I would recommend extreme care with judging God on his decisions. The reality is that to us Christians who have studied his word, there seem to be verses that speak to both sides of this argument.

At what point in this video was an argument made against Calvinism?

When I was growing up no one ever told me about Calvanism or the alternatives. Choice was never discussed. I feel fortunate in that I was able to study the bible without any preconceived notions and I naturally just believed, from reading, that we had a choice. I don't know how I would have come to the thought that we didn't.

Wow! These are ridiculously superficial arguments. Sad to see you trying to rescue God from God. Scripture overwhelmingly affirms that God has predetermined all that comes to pass and it’s always for His glory. There are thousands of text that affirm that reality, explicit and implied. Not 600. There are also tons of text affirming the sinner’s responsibility to believe the gospel call to repentance and faith. The fact that God the Holy Spirit, wrote this in His Word, doesn’t change the nature or character of God. He would cease to be God if it did. It actually showcases who He is even more. Because the inhabitants of earth are considered as nothing, he does, what he wants with the host of heaven and the host of earth. He stretches out his arm, and there is no one that can ask Him, what have you done? (Daniel 4:35) The Bible teaches that He will condemn all who reject the gospel. It also teaches that if you have repented and believed, you’ve done so because he has predetermined it, regenerated you in the exercise of His will, granted you repentance, and given you the gift of faith. Whether that fits in with your view of God or not, it doesn’t change the fact that that’s how he reveals it in scripture. The problem is that some want to judge God for revealing these parallel realities in the Bible, instead we should affirm what scripture affirms and deny what it denies. Don’t change clear doctrines of scripture because you can’t reconcile them. That is heretical. This does not give ultimate glory to God for everything that he does. He gets glory from salvation, and from the condemnation of sinners. If you can’t handle affirming that salvation is predetermined to some, you certainly will not ever except the other side of that coin. That he has created and predetermined some vessels for destruction and still commands us to call all to repent and believe. Think about this. The great commission is to preach the gospel to all creation One trut does not cancel out the other. That’s earthly and sinful thinking. His whole word is truth. Another problem is that we are trying to understand these truths but we are finite and sinful. It is absolutely impossible for us to understand God in His full totality. This is known as the incomprehensibility of God. He is also sovereign over the reprobate. Interesting how this Dr. talked a lot about making sure that he understands these doctrines through scripture and yet halfway through the video, he can’t even correctly quote his example verse from memory and yet he want us to believe that verse supposedly convicts him. These are truths that are in scripture period! They don’t belong to John Calvin.

Calvinism converted me from happy in Christ to sad. Just plain sad and miserable.
Now I’ve filed Calvinism into the every false thing teaching file and I am happy in Christ again.

Instead of having a non-Calvinist speaking for Calvinists, it might have been more worthwhile to actually have a Calvinist be part of the discussion.

The basic absurdity of the whole anti-Calvinist critique is that it puts God's actions up against human actions and seeks to judge the fairness of God's acts by some human metric of fairness. It's interesting that the anti-Calvinist always says their view is Scripture based then goes on to complain about the unfairness of God as they perceive Him to be portrayed by the Calvinist. I'm waiting for an actual Bible argument without the ridiculous and irrelevant appeals to fairness which are clearly obliterated by Job. The idol of free will is a hard one to give up.

I feel like Calvinism makes God a tyrant… who God is is important

Romans 9:"18Therefore He has mercy on whom He wills, and whom He wills He hardens.19 You will say to me then, “Why does He still find fault? For who has resisted His will?” 20 But indeed, O man, who are you to reply against God? Will the thing formed say to him who formed it, “Why have you made me like this?”

After a decade of study and research I still can't believe any thinking person believes the doctrines of Calvinism. I really can't. It goes against the very essence of a loving God who wants all to find salvation through Christ. My family are all Calvinist and it breaks my heart daily. It is not a secondary issue. It is a primary issue because it goes to the NATURE and CHARACTER of the God we serve. They irreparably distort our God to the point of being unrecognizable. These teachings make Christianity seem unjust at best and horrific at worst. That's why they never teach it to new Christians because they know it would scare them away.
