I don’t understand why he doesn't have more views. He is so spot on.

The pressure builds, you bottle it up, get angry and then get drunk. The dysfunctional family likes you drunk because you’re the scapegoat and that’s the dynamic they’re used to. I don’t do that anymore and I’m low to no contact. I’m also about to make 10 years of sobriety.

Never heard a person explain this so accurately. Most professionals dont seem to get about 1% of this.

The mention of things having to be suppressed without being resolved, was my ENTIRE childhood, into my grown up relationship with my mom. To her resolving an issue is simply dropping it . If I tried to resolve it at a later time when she was calm, she blew up again. I have a daughter and let her get away with a lot because I'm afraid of doing it wrong. In turn I'm doing it wrong. Can't afford therapy but use tools like this. Thanks so much for posting this and leaving it available.

This was my household growing up- we were scared of my dad’s passive aggressive anger and the fact that he wouldn’t resolve any problem’s in the house. He let my control freak of a mother dictate everything leaving me resent them and just repress my emotions. Which is what I have learned to do in my marriage. I repress all of my emotions until I can’t control them and I explode like a volcano. Usually with a voice at the back of my mind saying, what’s the point in talking about it? Nothings going to change anyways- I shut down usually until I can’t take it anymore.

Thanks Tim. Your talks do so much in clarifying and contextualizing raw, jumbled up emotions. It truly helps to orient and process all this.

There are many famous social media psychologist and therapists who wouldn't explain as good as that.
Thanks

He is the best when it comes to trauma, CPTSD and narcissism. He explains so well and it really connects everything up so well.
