I’ve been doing skull crushers the way you do them for years. People have given me shit for doing them that way, but I believe there are different variations. IMO They all work.

I love performing a Smith machine JM press. The tight squeeze at the bottom and the stretch at the top gives me a great pump in the triceps.

What about exercises like tricep dips because you get a big stretch but a peak contraction too?

Can anybody help me. I’m trying to get a good tricep workout going. Right now I put in tricep dips, close grip bench press, and straight bar cable push downs. I’m stuck for my last exercise. Should I do skull crushers or dumbbell seated overhead extension or standing cable rope extension? Another way of asking this is out of those 3 exercises which one is best for size and strength rather than aesthetics. FYI I’m also doing chest on my tricep day along with shoulders ( overhead press and lateral raises). And for chest I do bench press incline dumbbell bench press and I just started to try low to high cable flys. To be honest I came up with this workout recently because I felt like my last workout plan (upper body lower body) wasn’t working. But I’m starting to feel like there to much volume as I’m doing chest triceps and shoulders with 3 compound movements (bench press, close grip bench press, and overhead press). I just did a set of overhead presses and I got less reps than I usually do (I do shoulders as my last muscle group of this day starting with chest than doing triceps). I did just get covid and am coming back after a week so maybe that’s why I’m getting less reps but I would appreciate some help

Regarding the skull crushers, Some say keep your elbows as close to your head while some say its OK to do as shown in the video. Does it really matter? Any problem if elbows are wide apart?

Try the close grip bench press for triceps. It's burns the shit out of it and you'll see results

Most of these exercises cause pain in my elbow area? What should I do? Especially for the French press?

I think you forgot about behind the back exercises. Like kickbacks and dips. Kickbacks result in peak contraction, and may preferentially target the long head of the tricep. I personally split the exercises into overhead, in front, down, and behind.

This guy is great for general information however most of the exercises he recommends are not as good as similar movements with cables or even with dumbbells just in a different manner

Close grip bench press actually allows for the heaviest loading on the triceps. It’s just not a stretch exercise
